MIXED MARTIAL ARTS GENERAL RULES MEETING INFORMATION

The following is a list of some of the guidelines that participants (fighters), seconds, and the promoter must comply with while present during a mixed martial arts event sanctioned or regulated by the Wichita Tribe Sports Commission. If you need or want a complete copy of the regulations issued by the WTSC, please contact one of the commission staff.

FIGHTERS

·  Resolve any suspensions with the athletic commission who issued the suspension prior to arriving to the venue; any unresolved issues will result in non competition.

·  Make sure all event agreements have been signed and returned to promoter.

·  Make sure all licensing paperwork and requirements have been met i.e. bloodwork, physicals, etc.

·  Make sure at weigh in all fighters strip down to shirts, and shoes are removed; remove all jewelry including piercings.

·  Have your equipment, music, etc. taken care of prior to physical.

·  All fighters must designate your seconds at weigh in and they MUST remain with you at all times.

·  Bring (2) mouth pieces and (1) protective cup.

·  Gloves will be inspected by WTSC staff and deemed suitable for competition. Promoter will also provide gloves.

·  Entourages will not be allowed to enter into the ring (cage). Or allowed outside ring/cage area. Three seconds in the corner, two in the ring, (Must be licensed by WTSC)

·  If you are late to the rules meeting, weigh in, or pre-event physicals you will be subject to a fine and / or suspension at the discretion of the WTSC.

·  If you are scheduled to compete in an event and do not show or do not make weight you may be subject to a fine and / or suspension at the sole discretion of the WTSC.

·  All participants must disclose to the ringside physician if they are on any prescription or over the counter medications . Failure to do so may result in a fine and / or suspension by the WTSC.

·  Fighter must be inspected before entering ring/cage by WTSC staff (commissioner) ,once inspected fighter cannot be touched by seconds .

ELBOWS

·  Professional fighters ONLY may use elbow strikes as long as they are from three (3) to nine (9) o’clock strikes i.e. side to side , NO twelve (12) to six (6) o’clock i.e. up to down strikes. If you have any questions please contact a WTSC staff member.

·  Amateurs may NOT use elbow strikes of any kind. Forearm strikes are acceptable.

KNEES

·  Knee strikes are allowed to body by both pro and amateur fighters , knee strikes to head are allowed by both pro and amateur fighters as long as head/neck is not pulled into knee i.e. muay thai clench. If you have any questions please contact a WTSC staff member.

·  Knees or kick strikes are NOT allowed to the head of a DOWNED opponent at anytime. Including stomps to head/face of a downed opponent.

DOWNED FIGHTER

·  If a fighter is downed during a bout (KO,TKO) , all fighters must follow directions and instructions of the referee . The downed fighter must be examined by the ringside physician and all other fighters and seconds must stay away from downed fight until instructed otherwise by the referee.

THROWING IN THE TOWEL

·  The throwing in of the towel is not recognized as a method of stopping a fight. If chief second wants to stop fight then they should tell an inspector or WTSC commissioner immediately.

·  The WTSC may stop a contest at any time if the fighter is taking unnecessary punishment and /or physical harm .

POST BOUT EXAM

·  Win or lose you may not leave ringside until ringside physician has given you a post bout exam . Failure to comply with any directives of the ringside physician will result in a suspension by the WTSC or designee that may be in addition to any automatic suspension identified herein.

CONTACT LENSES

·  No hard contact lenses are permitted . Soft contact lenses are permitted.

·  Please advise physician if you will be wearing contacts during the event.

DRESSING ROOMS

·  All bags, luggage,backpacks,seconds bags and backpacks will be searched by an inspector upon arrival to dressing room . Any prohibited items will be confiscated by an inspector and will not be returned.

·  IF a participant/fighter/second leaves the dressing room area without an inspector you WILL NOT participate in any of the scheduled events and not allowed to return to dressing room area.

·  Your bags and equipment are subject to search by an inspector once you enter, leave or re-enter the dressing room area.

·  Entourages will not be allowed in the dressing room area. Only his/her seconds will be permitted.

·  There is no smoking or alcohol permitted in dressing room area.

·  Only unopened water and electrolyte drinks , as approved by the WTSC are permitted in the dressing room. All other drinks or beverages must be approved by the WTSC.

·  NO energy drinks or food is permitted except unopened fruit in the dressing area.

·  Unless approved by the WTSC no medications . NO heat rubs/balms , are permitted in dressing room area.

CUTS

·  The only solutions that are permitted for cuts are petroleum jelly , epinephrine 1/1000, avetine and thrombin. THE CONTAINERS FOR THESE SUBSTANCES MUST BE CLEARLY LABELED.

SECONDS

·  For BOTH non-championship and championship bouts each fighter is allowed a maximum of three (3) seconds in their corner.

·  Only two (2) seconds may enter the ring/cage between rounds UNLESS a cut occurs then fighter may have maximum of three (3) corners in ring/cage. The seconds are responsible for managing the corner (i.e. cleaning water spills , having proper equipment such as scissors , tape and mouth piece. They will also be responsible for bringing in and removing stool)

·  The chief second is responsible for the actions of his corner.

·  If the second enter the ring/cage during an event while a round is underway , this includes , but is not limited to , before the final bell rings including during the referee’s count of a downed fighter. If second does enter the fighter will be disqualified and both fighter and seconds will be subject to a fine and/or suspension.

·  Seconds WILL NOT hold cage or pound on apron . NO profane language will be tolerated.

·  If ANY of these rules fail to be followed the second(s) will be removed from event premises and subject to fine and/or suspension. Fighter will be disqualified from event.

·  No recording devices permitted at ringside.

·  Any violations will result in suspension or revocation of license and will be reported to the national database.

HANDWRAPS & GLOVES

·  An inspector MUST be present and must sign off on wraps and gloves .

·  Gauze and Tape may only be used to wrap hands.

·  Twenty (20) yards of gauze , 2” wide is the maximum permitted to wrap each hand.

·  8’ of tape is permitted to wrap each hand.

·  Tape or gauze may not reach outside of glove area on wrists.

·  NO tape across knuckles only used in between fingers/knuckles to hold gauze in place.

·  Fighters may tape their ankles or wear an ankle sleeve , but not both. If tape is used on ankles it must be applied directly to skin.

DRUG TESTING

·  Drug testing will be conducted randomly upon completion of your scheduled bout.

·  Any participants that test positive for a prohibited drug,alcohol,or anabolic steroid will be suspended by the WTSC for up to one (1) year . All positive test samples will be sent to an independent lab for verification and additional testing.

SUSPENSIONS

·  If a participant loses a bout by TKO , they will be automatically suspended for thirty (30) days.

·  If a participant loses a bout by KO, the fighter will be suspended automatically for forty-five (45) days.

·  The ringside physician may extend the suspension upon conclusion of the post-bout examination .

·  All suspensions will be reported to the Association of Boxing Commission’s Mixed Martial Arts database . Suspensions will be upheld nationally.
