Job Openings for Part-time Parent Education Instructors
The NSCC Parent Education Program has openings for Instructors starting Fall Quarter, 2012. Instruction is provided to parent cooperative preschools, some non-affiliated preschool cooperatives, and child care programs throughout the North Seattle area. The program is looking to expand to additional sites to serve school age families and other community groups.
Position specifics:
o Class Hours: Varies depending on the assignment; typically 33 hours/quarter (contact time) provided for each class, including day and evening time commitments
o Assignment by quarter; September-June
o Pay Range: $55-$63/hour depending on education and experience
o Minimum Qualification of BA in ECE/Parent Education or related field
o Preferred Qualification of Parent Education teaching experience
o Instructor must provide own transportation to assigned sites
o Meet the ADA requirements, including being able to lift and carry 35-60 lbs.
Overview of Part-time Instruction Responsibilities:
· Provide instruction as assigned in Parent Education to students in childcare and other community settings, online, and /or those participating in Parent Education Child Study Laboratory classes (parent cooperatives) both on campus and in community settings.
· Prepare for classes related to family life and children (range of ages can include from birth to age twelve). Age range depends on the specific assignment, since ranges vary with cooperative site, child care program or other classes.
· Demonstrate inter-cultural competency and the ability to communicate & work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Program and Division/College meetings welcome PT Faculty participation. Program meetings/in-service trainings are currently offered the second & fourth Mondays, 12:30-2:30pm. Faculty are also welcome to voluntarily support the Parent Ed Program in a variety of roles as discussed with the Program Coordinator (such as providing leadership training to co-op board members, writing articles for the Parent Advisory Council newsletter, serving on outreach committee, etc.)
