SCOPE / This procedure describes the proper handling and operation of a Pressure Water Fire Extinguisher.

OVERVIEW
Pressure Water Fire Extinguishers are hand held units activated by pressurized water and are used on Class A fires. Extinguishers are available in 22# models.

1.0 Check Extinguisher / · Verify that seal has not been broken.· Check pressure indicator gauge.
· Pressure should be in green range or around 100 psi.
2.0 Activate Extinguisher / · Break plastic seal.
· Pull pin from handle.
3.0 Test Operation of Extinguisher / · Pick up extinguisher by the handle.
· Grip handle firmly.
· Hold hose and squeeze the operating lever to test the extinguisher.
CAUTION
You may feel some kickback from hose.
4.0 Using Extinguisher / · Attack the fire from a safe distance up wind.
· Activate the extinguisher and direct water at the base of the fire.
· Release operating lever and back away when fire is extinguished or extinguisher is empty.
5.0 Material Use / · Water extinguishers are used on Class A fires (e.g., paper, wood, cloth, etc.
