Ballyhoura Development CLG:

Has been awarded funding from the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, to provide basic digital skills training to people under the Department's newDigital Skills for Citizens Grant Scheme.In a 'connected' society, digital skills for everyone are absolutely essential, in order to realise the full social and economic potential of the digital world. Helping individuals, communities and businesses acquire them is a priority of this scheme. The training aims to give people the confidence, motivation and skills to take their first steps online. Having digital skills can enrich the lives of people by giving them better access toinformation, culture, entertainment, social networking, eGovernment services, as well as online goods and services.Training is delivered over five two hour sessions and is FREE. Training will be available throughout the Ballyhoura area. St. Patricks Day Parade/Pattern Festival:

Ballylanders St.Patrick’s Day parade and Pattern Festival committee are Winnie Mc Donnell, Siobhan Hayes, Mary Daly, David Noonan and Liam Fitzgerald. The St. Patricks Day parade will take place @3pm. Anyone willing to take part in a float or walking group should contact any committee member. We are also looking for Stewards on the day. Live music on the street before and after the parade.

Winter Walking Festival:

The local Winter Walking Festivaltakes place on the Galtees thisSat 28 and Sun 29 January. There are three different levels of walks each day. C Walks start at11amare low level and relaxed, B walks start at10amare slightly more difficult and A Walks start at9amare very strenuous and only for very experienced hikers. Daily cost of Walks A and B €15, C Walks €10 includes bus transfers and refreshments. On sat there will be a special C walk and talk with John White 10Ktalking in the local heritage centre, base is at Aherlow House Hotel and registration for all walks takes place well in advance of starting times. Emergency Radio Communications will be provided by HW Community Radio Group and walk leaders and stewarding by the Galtee Walking Club. More info and brochures at 086-8314443

Hillwalking Radio Group:

Cllr Lisa Marie Sheehy has secured €400 for the Hill walking Radio Group that provide emergency radio communications for many events around the Galtee Mountains. Cllr Sheehy secured this after the January Municipal Meeting in a workshop. She noted "I was approached by members of the committee and I was delighted to have put this forward for the team and secured funding. The 23 year old stated "there are many other projects including roads projects we are still working to come to a consensus on in the next few weeks so I will keep the locality updated".

Introduction to Orienteering:

Ballyhoura Beoare hosting an ‘Introduction to Orienteering’ event this SundayJanuary 29th from10am-2pmat the Ballyhoura Bike Centre. We will cover map reading, compass use and practice a couple of Orienteering routes! It is open to beginners who would like to give orienteering a go and no previous experience in required! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is€10 per person.Pre - booking is essential as spaces are limited so please r call 063-91746 if you are interested in taking part.

Ballylanders Soccer Club are holding a clothes /shoes and bags collection over the next 6 week. Collection is booked forMarch 4th. You can drop your bags off at club house on Monday 6.30pm to 7.30pm and Thursday 6.30pm to 8.30pm. If this does not suit you can contact Mary on 0868141869. The Soccer Club do appreciate your support as always. This is a good way to do a good Spring Cleaning.
