EPISODE 1: Encounters With Aliens
1. EXT.HOSPITAL day 1 1105
A beautiful glinting hospital white with ten windows an automatic door and a huge green moon on the side. It is on a grassy area (maybe a park?) and people are entering. Suddenly (FX shot) the TARDIS fades into view. But nobody steps out…
2. INT.HOSPITAL day 1 1106
The DOCTOR lies on the floor, ROSE is struggling to get up. The DOCTOR is laughing.
ROSE:
So where are we?
DOCTOR:
I haven’t got a clue!
He gets up and passes to the TARDIS controls
DOCTOR:
Most probably Earth.
He grabs a long jacket
ROSE:
Is the TARDIS attracted to Earth then?
DOCTOR:
No what makes you say something like that?
ROSE:
Because we land on it a lot!
DOCTOR:
Shut up.
He grabs a torch
DOCTOR:
It might get dark out there!
ROSE gets out her bag
ROSE:
Where’s the TARDIS changing room?
The DOCTOR points down the corridor
DOCTOR:
Third door to your left
ROSE runs down the corridor
3. EXT. HOSPITAL/TARDIS day 1 1109
The DOCTOR steps out, realises that they are at a park with a hospital
DOCTOR:
Defiantly Earth.
But then in a bush there is a secret security camera. OMEGA’S POV: The DOCTOR picking up litter, putting it in a bin
4. INT. CHAMBER day 1 1110
A barely lit chamber, with tubes and pins around, a character (not seen by the audience) is sitting in a black chair watching the DOCTOR. A character runs up to him, a scarred slave
SLAVE:
Sir we need to go for the medical treatment.
SLAVE’S POV: the character holds his hand up, a metal glove, dismissing him
SLAVE:
Thankyou sir.
The SLAVE starts to lurk off when he hears a terrible croaking possibly metallic voice
OMEGA:
The treatment starts at 12, slave!
5. INT. TARDIS day 1 1112
ROSE leaves the TARDIS changing room in a black dress with sunglasses on
ROSE:
Boy is this nice!
She steps out of the TARDIS happy, but then on the floor is a glowing ball left on, sinister...
CUE OPENING TITLES--
6. EXT. HOSPITAL/TARDIS day 1 1122
The DOCTOR walks around the park with ROSE
DOCTOR:
First time it’s landed on the right location isn’t it?
ROSE:
Yeah, I guess so.
DOCTOR:
Nice um, um...
ROSE:
It’s my funeral dress!
DOCTOR:
When was the funeral?
ROSE:
When I was 5 I think.
DOCTOR:
At least you got a second chance
He stares up at the hospital
DOCTOR: How many floors do you think are in there?
ROSE:
Five
DOCTOR:
Ten.
ROSE:
Let’s see who wins!
Suddenly (FX shot) somebody’s hands set fire
DOCTOR:
That happens usually
ROSE:
What type of Earth is this?
DOCTOR:
Real Earth.
ROSE:
Then where are we?
DOCTOR:
London.
He sees smart brown clothes on the floor
DOCTOR:
And he was burnt out of his body.
He stares at the clothing closely
DOCTOR:
He had no choice…
Suddenly (FX shot) a huge explosion is heard and the TARDIS rocks about
DOCTOR:
It’s the TARDIS. What did I leave? What did I leave?
Suddenly the explosion is heard again, but the people just pass by
DOCTOR:
Why does nobody care?
ROSE heads for the TARDIS
DOCTOR:
Rose!
He runs up and opens up the door struggling
DOCTOR:
Get in!
ROSE enters the DOCTOR after her
7. INT. TARDIS day 1 1135
(FX SHOT) The TARDIS controls are on fire. The DOCTOR is shocked. ROSE’S POV: The DOCTOR running up to the controls, he looks down
DOCTOR:
Oh my God…
CU of the DOCTOR, scared
DOCTOR:
I left the irreversible time valve on. The TARDIS is gone
Suddenly he is flown back as smoke rises from the floors. CU of ROSE, frightened but calm
DOCTOR OOV:
Run!
ROSE is frozen to the spot
DOCTOR:
What are you doing? RUN!
The DOCTOR gets up but then he is knocked over the small platform near the TARDIS controls and he is trapped beneath it.
ROSE:
Doctor?
Suddenly ROSE runs down the corridor, (FX shot) fire coming from the rooms. CU of ROSE, very, very calm
ROSE:
Gotta go!
She heads back down the corridor and she sees the DOCTOR struggling up
DOCTOR:
I didn’t leave that there!
ROSE:
Neither did I!
The DOCTOR finally gets up as more smoke rises
DOCTOR:
Just get out!
ROSE’S POV: The DOCTOR pushing her out of the TARDIS, and he also runs
8. EXT. HOSPITAL/TARDIS day 5 1147
The DOCTOR locks up the TARDIS
DOCTOR:
Seems were stranded.
ROSE:
Any chance to reverse it?
DOCTOR:
No time lord knows. Maybe we should check up in the hospital.
ROSE:
What for?
DOCTOR:
I dunno, I don’t even like hospitals that much, but there is nothing better on this boring world!
ROSE:
Boring?
DOCTOR:
Boring!
ROSE:
It’s not boring!
DOCTOR:
It so is!
ROSE:
It so isn’t!
DOCTOR:
Stop arguing and I’ll talk my way inside
He checks for the physic paper
DOCTOR:
Yup, everything in here.
He passes to the door with ROSE. CU of the DOCTOR
DOCTOR:
Hello!
OMEGA V/O:
Who is there?
DOCTOR:
Um, doctor James.
OMEGA V/O:
Are you part of the surgery?
DOCTOR:
Um, no, I have a sick friend!
He glares at ROSE, and she clenches her stomach
ROSE:
Ohh, it hurts so much!
DOCTOR:
She could be dying!
OMEGA V/O:
Please enter!
The doors start to open
DOCTOR:
No use of the physic paper at all.
He enters with ROSE...
9. INT. HOSPITAL CORRIDOR day 1 1156
A streaming glinting white corridor filled with nurses and patients. On the walls are trophies. The DOCTOR and ROSE have just entered. ROSE’S POV: The patients in blankets to cover the wounds.
DOCTOR:
Are you alright?
CU of ROSE looking at the DOCTOR
ROSE:
I guess.
DOCTOR:
There’s something about this place.
He gets out the sonic screwdriver, presses it against the wall
DOCTOR:
And with the TARDIS on fire, we haven’t got a choice to leave or stay.
ROSE:
Um, what year did you say it was?
DOCTOR:
It is 2027.
ROSE:
Really?
DOCTOR:
And this hospital is out-of-this-world.
The DOCTOR whirrs the sonic screwdriver against a door, opening it
DOCTOR:
And the doctors are...better
DOCTOR’S POV: A room, five DOCTOR’S crowding around a table needles and other hospital things. (Maybe a practise dummy???)
DOCTOR 5:
He’s nearly dead
CU of the DOCTOR, shocked
DOCTOR:
Oh my God!
He slams the door shut.
ROSE:
What is it?
DOCTOR:
They deal with the dead Rose!
ROSE:
That’s good
DOCTOR:
They obviously found the cure.
He puts the sonic screwdriver in his jacket pocket.
DOCTOR:
Let’s go.
As they leave focus on a video camera. OMEGA’S POV: the DOCTOR and ROSE talking to nurses/patients/doctors.
10. INT. CHAMBER day 1 1205
The lights have dimmed slightly, and the SLAVE is bringing medical stuff in. OMEGA is still facing away from the audience in his black chair.
OMEGA:
Leave me slave!
SLAVE:
But sir, you need to have the medical.
OMEGA:
Leave me or I’ll kill you!
CU of the SLAVE pretty worried
SLAVE:
You can’t do that!
Real dramatic, beating music plays as smoke rises in front of the chair and the slave, a shadowed figure gets up moves across to the medical table, grabs a saw
OMEGA OOV:
You are the enemy!
CU of the SLAVE looking up scared and as the shadow of the saw passes his face he screams.
11. INT. HOSPITAL CORRIDOR day 1 1206
The DOCTOR waits by a door and ROSE is talking to a patient
DOCTOR:
Rose! Look at this!
ROSE runs over and they both look out of the window
DOCTOR:
See that?
ROSE:
Nope!
DOCTOR:
Look closer.
ROSE:
Oh. My. God!
She heads out of the room the DOCTOR chasing her and zoom in very slowly and in the bush is a blood stained hand…
12. INT. CHAMBER day 1 1207
OMEGA is back in his black chair but smoke still rises as we see a body behind him. There is a breathing plug attached to his mouth, the SLAVE!
OMEGA:
And now I shall succeed!
He turns the chair around and more smoke rises. OMEGA laughs
OMEGA:
This is my finest hour!
And as he laughs zoom into the SLAVE’S face. CU of the SLAVE, asleep, captured, a prisoner…
13. EXT. HOSPITAL/INT. PARK day 1 1210
The DOCTOR waits by the door; arms folded as ROSE looks inside the bush. The DOCTOR shrugs his shoulders and grins.
DOCTOR: (Cheerily)
Find anything?
ROSE:
What do you mean by ‘find anything’?
DOCTOR:
I was being supportive; I knew that was just a hand!
ROSE:
You knew?
DOCTOR:
Yes I did!
ROSE:
Doesn’t this type of murder alarm you!
DOCTOR:
Nope! Because that is practise!
He grabs ROSE by the shoulders
DOCTOR:
Listen to me, for once I feel safe on Earth!
14. INT. CHAMBER night 1 2410
The chamber is practically empty, no OMEGA and no SLAVE, a DOCTOR enters.
DOCTOR 5:
Um, boss! Are you here?
OMEGA V/O:
Yes, what do you want?
DOCTOR 5 is a little bit worried. OMEGA’S POV: DOCTOR 5 picks up a drill
OMEGA V/O:
Do not touch that!
DOCTOR 5:
I’m sorry but we need you downstairs.
OMEGA V/O:
I can’t!
DOCTOR 5:
You must.
Suddenly he slips and smoke rises up.
DOCTOR 5:
No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
15. INT. RESTAURANT night 1 2415
Inside a restaurant, pictures and awards, not many guests though and a food stand. ROSE sits down with the DOCTOR. Blending in.
ROSE:
We’ve been here all day.
DOCTOR:
Because I don’t know how the TARDIS works?
ROSE:
But if were here, there must be a me instead of me in 2006.
DOCTOR: (Sinister-like)
What do you mean?
ROSE:
I mean, apart from me here in this restaurant, is there another out there? Like a 21-year-older Rose. So I should be around 36 right.
It’s more a sinister discussion than before.
DOCTOR:
Don’t think that! I don’t even know if this is Earth!
A pause, maybe they’re not on Earth
ROSE:
But it’s not like I’m going to find me!
DOCTOR:
Good!
ROSE: But what if I’m dead?
DOCTOR:
Don’t even go there Rose!
ROSE:
I’m just asking!
She gets up
DOCTOR:
Where’d you think you’re going?
ROSE:
To get some chips or something!
DOCTOR:
Have you got the money then?
ROSE pulls a ten pounds note out of her pocket
DOCTOR:
Good luck!
He smiles and then he’s not on screen, ROSE has crossed to where they sell chips and a GREASY OLD WOMAN stands there.
GREASY OLD WOMAN:
What do you want?
ROSE:
I want a couple of chips
GREASY OLD WOMAN: Have you got money?
ROSE shows her the ten pounds
GREASY OLD WOMAN:
Nah! They’re 15 pounds love!
ROSE:
They can’t be!
The GREASY OLD WOMAN laughs
GREASY OLD WOMAN:
Everyone else knows!
ROSE strops to the table where the DOCTOR is waiting, arms folded
DOCTOR:
How’d it go?
ROSE:
Shut it!
DOCTOR:
Sorry!
16. INT. CHAMBER night 1 2424
A body lies on the floor. DOCTOR 5 is asleep smoke around him.
OMEGA V/O:
Poor thin man!
17. INT. RESTAURANT night 1 2424
The DOCTOR looks out of the window.
DOCTOR:
Somewhere 2027. Fantastic!
ROSE strolls up to him
ROSE:
You’ve gotta see this!
She grabs him and at the table (FX shot) is a tiny gremlin type creature.
DOCTOR:
Ah. A Gremoncon baby dangerous
The GREMONCIN BABY squeals. The DOCTOR stares closely
DOCTOR:
But what the hell is it doing here?
ROSE:
Is it something to do with that hospital?
They’re mates again! CU of the DOCTOR, grinning
DOCTOR:
No, why is it in a restaurant and a hospital? It’s completely absurd. But, time to send you home.
He gets out the sonic screwdriver, and a small metal bar.
DOCTOR:
Have a good time in Gremicon, with your family.
ROSE thinks for a second
ROSE:
Like me…
The DOCTOR turns
DOCTOR:
What does that mean?
ROSE:
Just, um, I’ll tell you later.
The DOCTOR stares at her but then (FX shot) he zaps the GREMONCON BABY away
ROSE:
Is there more out there?
DOCTOR:
No. They should be home by now.
ROSE:
Do you want to see the TARDIS?
DOCTOR:
Guess so.
He strolls out of the restaurant with ROSE.
18. INT. TARDIS night 1 2430
Fire (FX?) and smoke surround the controls. The doors are practically off its hinges and the place is ruined. The DOCTOR enters upset, ROSE behind him. CU of the DOCTOR, looking down at a burning rock
DOCTOR:
It’s gone. Somebody did this.
ROSE:
Who then?
DOCTOR:
That’s my problem. I dunno.
ROSE:
And now we can’t ever go back.
DOCTOR:
Nope! The slow route. For me another 100 years until I regenerate around here.
ROSE:
And me?
The DOCTOR faces her seriously upset
DOCTOR:
I don’t know…
ROSE looks at the burning TARDIS, upset
19. INT. CHAMBER night 1 2436
Everything is back to normal, the SLAVE and DOCTOR 5 are breathing into breathing plugs, and OMEGA is sitting away from the audience, watching a screen in front of him.
OMEGA:
Commander Blaine!
On the screen, a man with grey hair, glasses stares at OMEGA
COMMANDER BLAINE:
Yes sir.
OMEGA:
I am at a hospital!
COMMANDER BLAINE:
Well what do you need?
OMEGA:
My doctor and my slave.
COMMANDER BLAINE:
Like you sir?
OMEGA:
Precisely…
He laughs
COMMANDER BLAINE:
Very wise! At the moment I’m sending two guards down.
OMEGA:
Good, good…
20. INT. HOSPITAL WARD 20 night 1 2440
Two GUARDS in black helmets, carrying guns and wearing black suits, enter. A man in a wheelchair, very sick is alone in the ward. This is DONNY. DONNY’S POV: The two black guards with metal bars.
DONNY:
Who are you?
A robotic voice comes out:
GUARD 1:
We are your doctors!
DONNY:
What?
GUARD 2:
We are the next generation of doctors!
DONNY:
What do you want with me?
They strap the metal bars around his chest, making DONNY a prisoner.
DONNY:
What are you doing? WHAT IS IT!
One of the guards pushes the back of the chair
GUARD 1:
We are robots; you will be robotic like most sick patients.
GUARD 1 wheels him off; DONNY is hesitating trying to shout.
DONNY:
No! Help me!
Suddenly they enter the lift
GUARD 1:
You will meet our master!
DONNY:
No! NOOOO!
21. INT. HOSPITAL CARPARK night 1 2456
Cars zoom past, splash puddles, as it has been raining. The DOCTOR and ROSE look around.
DOCTOR:
I can’t believe even the TARDIS is extinct! I am all that remains of Gallifrey!
ROSE:
Why is the hospital so important?
DOCTOR:
Because it is.
CU of the DOCTOR, very calm now
DOCTOR:
And there is nothing wrong. Now, where do you want to sleep? TARDIS, street or I’ll make something up?
ROSE grins
DOCTOR:
I know that grin make something up.
22. EXT./INT. HOUSE night 1 2456
Inside a house, the doorbell rings. A man, dodgy moustache, detective type answers it. It’s the DOCTOR and ROSE smiling.
DOCTOR:
Hiya!
ROSE:
Nice to see ya!
The MAN is shocked
MAN:
Who do you think you are?
The DOCTOR steps through, shows him the physic paper
DOCTOR:
I am with your lord on official duty!
MAN:
Oh, I’m sorry sir. I’m Henry.
The house is tidy, he has no wife, no kids, a TV and a couch, yellow walls and carpets, a wooden staircase, a blue kitchen, and everything is practically normal.
DOCTOR:
We need to stay for the night, and Mrs Tyler will need to as well.
He walks to ROSE.
DOCTOR:
As you can see!
MAN:
Of course! A couple!
DOCTOR/ROSE:
NO!
MAN:
That’s good!
DOCTOR:
Why?
MAN:
I’ll take her! (laughs)
Suddenly the room shakes, the MAN runs up the stairs, but stops midway
MAN: (Sympathetic)
I’m so sorry about this.
He presses a button, runs up, the stairs are blocked up with a metal door and then suddenly. BASH! The DOCTOR falls through the floor and ROSE (FX shot) bursts with light! She disappears…
23. INT. BEDROOM night 1 2459
The MAN slams the door shut. CU of the MAN, he closes his eyes.
MAN: (Quiet)
No. No! Stop it!
(FX shot) His hands start to slowly change, growing wires. CU of the MAN again, he is trying to open his eyes.
MAN: (Angrier)
No! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
He opens his eyes and grabs a flowerpot
MAN: (Angry. Mad)
NOOOOO!
He throws it to the ground it smashes. And then he’s back to normal, rubs his eyes. He opens the door to see…
24. EXT. BEDROOM/INT. HALL day 2 00:05
The place is a wreck. Furniture smashed up, the roof has crashed down, and paintings cut up. Everything destroyed apart from the bedroom. Even the metal gates have become loose. The MAN steps out.
MAN:
What the?
This is JEREMY HAYES, he walks across the hall, presses the button. The gates slowly come down to reveal, only a few undamaged steps. JEREMY’S POV: The ruined area, a gigantic hole in the floor, sparking wires and torn doors, smashed windows.
25. INT. DRAMA HALL day 2 11:05
Bright daylight, sunshine, and this place is not wrecked. But it is like a prison cell, a huge sign ‘Drama Hall’ is on the wall. A crowd of people chat and talk in poor costumes, and JEREMY is at the far end, glum.
JEREMY: (Gloom)
What time is it?
Suddenly a door creaks open, everyone stares, a silhouetted man is at the door. Everybody stares. CU of JEREMY, he stares at the man, something strange is going on…
JEREMY:
What the hell.
The man steps inside, he is in a coat and is carrying a briefcase, he looks around 35, with blond hair (possibly a blond beard???) This is DANIEL SAMGINSON he smiles.
DANIEL SAMGINSON:
From now on, I am your life, and your teacher. Welcome to your new home, my students…
26. INT. CHAMBER day 2 11:06
OMEGA is struggling at his controls.
OMEGA:
No, where is he! Where is he?
Suddenly the screen flickers on, DANIEL SAMGINSON is there staring right at OMEGA.
