Urdd Primary Swimming Competition (Mid Glamorgan Gala)

Last Thursday, 11 of our pupils represented the school at the Urdd Primary Swimming Competition (Mid Glamorgan Gala) at Ynysawdre Pool. The standard of the competition was strong with many schools from across Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf in attendance. However, all of our swimmers performed with distinction with Evie Richards (Year 3 & 4 Freestyle Girls) and Ffion Thomas (Year 5 & 6 Freestyle Girls) winning their events to become County champions. Both have been invited to swim at the Urdd National Finals at the International Pool in Cardiff Bay on January 21st 2017. There were also impressive performances by Gracie Dale (Year 3 & 4 Backstroke Girls) and by the Year 5 & 6 Freestyle Relay Girls (Ffion Thomas, Gracie Davies, Tia Lynch, Mali Perry) who both finished in 2nd place. Others who swam so well included Olivia Hughes, Will Ronan, Scott Cox, Corey Knight and Ethan Dewar. Well done to you all – you were a credit to yourselves and to our school.

Many, many thanks to our Year 4 pupils for their excellent performance of “The Stars Are Coming Out For Christmas!” last evening in front of a packed audience. The children were a credit to themselves and to the School. A huge thank you to Miss Bevan, Miss Morgan and the support staff for their hard work in preparing the pupils for this concert.

Olivia Smith (Class 12)

Year 5 pupil Olivia Smith has recently hit the headlines in both the newspapers and online media. Olivia has been offered a three-year record deal with a London company after videos of her singing were posted on YouTube and were spotted by a talent scout. Olivia has already been in the recording studio and her first single, “In The Ghetto”, will be available on iTunes over the Christmas period. Many congratulations from us all at the school on this incredible achievement, Olivia!
