Job Title:Coffee Shop Manager

Grade:Band 3

Department:Retail

Reporting to:Cluster Manager

Responsible for:Paid Staff and Volunteers within the shop

2.Job Purpose

Deliver and drive sales and contribution in a friendly, efficient customer focused Coffee Shop over a seven day trading period.

  1. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver and drive sales in agreed trading hours
  • Manage and motivate a team of Barista’s across all areas
  • Deliverexcellent customer experienceat all times.
  • Clear staffing rota to cover shifts, holidays, training course and other absences
  • Ensure all Health and Safety checks are completed and adhered to.
  • Develop promotions and product sales to support the manager to maximise income.
  • Recommend and review efficient stock control and minimise waste.
  • Manage collections and deliveries and ensure ‘back of house’ enables the shop to run efficiently.

Comply with all food hygiene standards

  • Recruit, train and develop staff/volunteers and maintaining rosters to ensure the shop is covered at all times.
  • Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure the shop is a safe place to visit and work.
  • To promote public awareness of the care provided by Dorothy House.
  • To fulfil additional duties as are deemed necessary.

  • Principally working in shop alongside volunteers and, where applicable, other paid staff.
  • Majority of work within the coffee shop
  • Some work in the clothing department of the shop including in the sorting area.
  • Physically demanding job.

No Smoking Policy

Dorothy House operates a No Smoking Policy for all staff, volunteers and visitors in relation to promoting health. It applies to the Hospice premises and grounds at Winsley, all Dorothy House shops and when staff are on duty in patients’ homes.
