ThisdocumentprovidesanoverviewoftheoutcomesandassessmentcriteriaforStandard4:EqualityandDiversity.ItidentifiesthecriteriawithintheStandardthatshouldhavebeenachieveduponsuccessfulcompletionoftheunderpinningknowledgewithintheCareCertificateworkbook.EmployeesmustdemonstratetheircompetenceinpracticeinordertofullyachievethisStandardoftheCareCertificate.
Thisprogresslogandsign-offdocumentshouldbecompletedjointlybytheemployeeandthemanager/supervisor/assessortoconfirmthatalloutcomesandcriteriahavebeenachievedinpracticeintheworksetting.Supplementaryevidencecanbeattachedtodemonstrateachievementanditissuggestedtodosoasgoodpractice.
ThisdocumentalsoprovidesanoutlineofthesuggestedmappingofoutcomesandcriteriawithinStandard4:EqualityandDiversityoftheCareCertificatetotherecommendedQualificationsandCreditFramework(QCF)unit,theNationalMinimumTrainingStandardsforHealthcareSupportWorkersandAdultSocialCareWorkersinEnglandandtheCommonInductionStandards.Thisdocumentdoesnotnecessarilyindicatedirectmappingofcriteriaandthereforeassessorsand/
ormanagersshouldensuretheyfollowtheguidancebelow.Pleasenotethatwhenthetermassessorisusedthroughoutthisdocumentthiscouldbethemanager,supervisororassessorandwillbedecidedbytheemployingorganisation.
ThisdocumentshouldalwaysbeusedinconjunctionwiththeguidanceprovidedintheCareCertificateFrameworkTechnicalDocument.
Guidanceforassessors
Assessorsmustensurethatthelearnerhasproducedevidenceforeachassessmentcriterionthatisvalid,authentic,reliable,currentandsufficient.Thereforeassessorsmustnotassumethatifthemappingdocumentindicatesacriterioncouldhavealreadybeenachieved,themappedcriteriawithintheQCFunitshouldautomaticallybeawarded.LearnersandassessorsareresponsibleforensuringthattheoutcomesandcriteriawithintheQCFunitandstandardsbelowhavebeenachievedtotherequiredstandard.Forreference,withinthecolumnthatreferstocoverageoftherelevantQCFunit,aPindicatesthattheCareCertificatecriteriaprovidespartialcoverageoftherelevantcriteriawithintheQCFunit,whereasanFindicatesfullcoverage.
TheAssessmentmethodusedcolumnisincludedtoallowassessorstoprovideevidenceofthetypeofassessmentmethodthathasbeenusedtoassesstheCareCertificatecriteria. ThisislikelytobenotedastheCareCertificateWorkbook;howeverfurtherevidencecouldincludeprofessionaldiscussion,observation,questionandanswer,e-learning,witnesstestimony,etc.Thiscolumncanalsobecompletedtoevidencecompetenceusingtheseexampleassessmentmethods.
TheEvidencelocationcolumnisincludedtoprovideaclearsignposttowherethelearner’sevidencecanbefound.Thismaybewithinaportfolioofevidence,acontinuedprofessionaldevelopment(CPD)fileorelectronicallyviae-learningore-portfolio.
