Monday: Use your best printing & write your spelling words neatly. Then, go back & circle the “ consonant + le pattern”. Afterwards, syllabicate (waves beneath the syllables) Remember to break up the syllables between the two double consonants. Then, write meaningful sentences (declaratives) using the first 4 vocabulary words.
Tuesday: Group all the “consonant + le” spelling words together. (Careful! “female” is NOT in the group! There’s a vowel before the “le.”) Write meaningful sentences using vocabulary words #5-7.
Wednesday: Which of your spelling words has a silent letter inside it? Write that word & circle the silent letter. Then, write meaningful sentences (declaratives or interrogatives) for vocabulary words #8-10. Using a thesaurus, find a synonym for “harsh” and “strategy.” Which one vocabulary word can be used as either a noun, adjective, & verb (depending upon how it is used)?
Thursday: Study your spelling & vocabulary words so you’re ready for Friday’s test. Note: If you got 100 % on the spelling pretest, you will not need to do the Monday spelling portion of the homework, but you MUST do the vocabulary activities..
Instead of the spelling words, please choose 2 set of words on my “Tricky Word List” and make a picture dictionary that includes a meaningful sentence & meaningful question. (See “Tricky Word List” sheet for instructions)
