VFW Post 8337 drapes our charter for Auxiliary President
Ruth E. Jischke
Ruth E. Jischke a young 84… daughter of Henry and Agnes Johnson, lost her battle with cancer January 2, 2009 while staying at the Hearthside Cordial Care in Sister Bay.
Ruth was born April 18, 1924 in Chicago. She graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1942, married George E. Jischke on December 1, 1945 (George wasa charter member of our post whopassed away January 14, 2001).
Ruth was an active member of our auxiliary and community... She worked for Kellstrom Realty and Champeau Floor Covering, and owned Flintridge Fibers. She was a member… of Arachne Spinners, Door County ‘Weavers Guild, Christ Child Society, Saint Rosalia’s Altar Society and President of our VFW Post 8337 Auxiliary.
Ruth was a homemaker and mother of sons…Robert (Trudy) Jischke, John (Kim) Jischke and Daniel (Sherri) Jischke and daughter Elizabeth (Steven) Hopkins. She was a “Grandmother” to Monica (Matt) Austin, Jessica Jischke, Meredith (Ben) Gauthier, Kayla Jischke, Abigail Jischke, Michael (Erin) Jischke and Martin Jischke and Great Grandmother to Elliot Austin, Sophie and Camilla Gauthier, as well as Eva and Oscar Jischke. Karl Johnson was her brother and Astrid King her sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother… Oscar Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. January 17, 2009 at Stella Maris Parish in Sister Bay (visitation from 10 a.m.).
In spring Ruth’s ashes will be placed next to George.We’ll post details at and as they develop.
In lieu of flowers… her family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, University of Wisconsin Cancer Center and Unity Hospice. . VFW Post 8337 also draped the charter for comrade, John E. “Jack” Teichen
John served as an army tec. 5 during WWII. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. January 24, 2009 at Stella Maris Parish in Sister Bay (visitation from 10 a.m.).
VFW Post 8337 members should wear post colors at both memorial services!
