Athletics

Varsity Football Tickets

Football tickets for this week’s game vs. Vista Ridge are available in the Main Office BEFORE school Mon-Fri 8:00am-8:30am and available at Eagle Mart today, October 22nd during all lunch periods. Presale tickets can also be purchased online on the GISD home page using the online payment link. Ticket prices are $3 for students and $7 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $8.

College Visits

The University of Texas (Austin) will be on campus today from 12:00pm-2:00pm in the GHS Cafeteria. All students are invited to stop by their table.

St. Edwards will be here Wednesday, October 22nd from 12:30-2:00pm in the College & Career Center Room 118.

Concordia Universitywill be on campus on Friday, October 24th from 12:00pm-2:00pm in the College & Career Center Room 118.

All Students will need a pass to attend the visits in Room 118 if they do not have an off period.

Clubs and Organizations

Book Club

Book Club will be meeting November 4th at 3:50 to discuss Defending Jacob by William Landay. Please come by Mr. Collman's room, #175, to discuss the book and decide on next month's book.

GHS Bowling Team

Tryouts and season practices for the reigning district champion GHS Boys & Girls Bowling Teamsbegan on October 1st. We are taking new bowlers into the program all month long and we need girls! Come to Mel's for team practices right after school on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. Someone who can answer all of your questions will be at Mel’s every day except Friday. If you can’t make it to Mel’s or have questions beforehand please call Coach John Hood at 512.944.2695.

Cafeteria News

The Healthy High School Challenge is in full swing in week 4 of the challenge. As of last week GHS was currently in 3rd place in the nation overall and we are ahead of East View High School in all categories! Remember to purchase double point items this week to keep us in the lead. Those items are located in your EAGLE snack bar and are any of the soft pretzel items and the Eagle Popped Snack Crisps. So get your Healthy on and help your school win cash prizes too!

Congratulations to our Jack Frost Winners!

Winners for September were Landry Smith and Trevor Springer & winners for October were Erika Wong and Mookie Walton. These Seniors were selected as Jack Frost winners because of their school activities, Service and being exceptional role models. Congratulate these Seniors when you see them! They will be recognized at Monday’s school board meeting and again in the spring with an awards breakfast.

Seniors, it’s not too late to get your application in- come by Mrs. Beran’s office 205 or the counselor to pick up an application. Once you fill it out, it stays on file the entire school year.

Pictures

Senior Class Pictures will take place on October 20th, 21st & 22nd. Retakes for ALL grade levels will take place on Wednesday October 22nd. These will all be done in the lobby of the PAC during language arts classes.

Proactive Leadership Seminar

Anyone wanting to attend the ProActive Leadership Seminar on Wednesday, October 22, is welcome to attend. You may attend during the day if you have an off period or you may attend the leadership session at 4:oo PM in the PAC. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Eagle Mart

STADIUM BLANKETS

Due to popular demand, Eagle Mart is once againselling stadium blankets that are water resistant on one side, royal blue fleece on the other. The size is 50" X 60". They have white embroiderywith"Georgetown Eagles"stitched on the blanket. There is binding around the edges and they roll up with easy to carry handles. The price is $25 each.

Boys Golf

The Boys Golf Team recently played in the Burnet Golf Tournament at the Lighthouse Golf Course. Leading the team in scoring were Taylor Kaye and Lucas Garza. Other members of the team were Corey Scully, Lander Fagan, and Owen Kinney.

GHS Band

Congratulations to the GHS Eagle Band for receiving the highest Superior Rating at the Region 26 UIL Marching Contest this past Saturday. This continues the 48 year long tradition of the highest ranking at UIL for the Eagle Band. Congratulations GHS!

GHS Swim

Both of your Eagles swim teams were victorious this past week & weekend while competing in the 2nd Georgetown Cup Meet Thursday nightagainst EVHS,as well as the Leander Tri meet Saturday morning. Swimmers of the meet for the Georgetown ISD Cup were Kyndal Cody, Hannah Ignacio, Ashley Aleshire, Corinne Pukys, Mark Franklin, Marc True, Max Meister and Luke Shepherd. Swimmers of the meet for the Leander/EVHS/GHS Tri Meet were Emily Gillispie, Christa Unland, Sophia Helpert, Johnny Estrada, Collins McLaughlin, Nathan Wyman, and Austin Tyler. Our next competition is against EVHS Friday night at the Village Pool, Come cheer us on!
