MINUTES OF MEETING

February 25, 2015

The February meeting of the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 Board of School Directors was held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, 6 Danforth Drive, Easton, PA. President Baxter called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM at which time the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

4.  MOTION to Approve Agenda – February 25, 2015

On motion by Ms. Lastowski, seconded by Ms. Featherman, and unanimously passed by voice vote, the Board approved the Agenda as presented with any additions and/or corrections noted.

5.  MOTION TO Approve Minutes of Meeting – December 10, 2014

On motion by Ms. Featherman, seconded by Mr. Butz, and passed by voice vote (Dr. Baird abstained from the vote), the Board approved the Minutes of the January 28, 2014 meeting as presented.

6.  MOTION TO Approve the Report of the Treasurer & Request for Approval of Bills – January, 2015

On motion by Ms. Featherman, seconded by Mr. Wunder, and unanimously passed by voice vote, the Report of the Treasurer for the month of January 28, 2015 was approved and bills ordered paid.

7.  ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

Mrs. Baxter announced that an Executive Session was held prior to the meeting to discuss Legal and Personnel matters. Present were: Susan Baxter, Michelle Price (arrived at 6:42), Pamela Colton, Daniel Wunder, Annabella Lastowski, Eileen Featherman, Ken Butz, Ethan Habrial, Merlyn Clarke, Cindy Nester, Dr. Brennan, Dr. Bianco, Mr. Pidgeon, Mr. Baltzersen and Atty. Freund (arrived at 6:36).

11.  REPORT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

a.  Dr. Brennan informed the Board regarding of the death of a student who attended Colonial Academy, A bus driver that passed away from Cancer and of the death of the husband of an Associate Teacher. She followed by asking for a moment of silence.

b.  Dr. Brennan introduced Sandra Miller, who presented a video about the Campaign for Fair Educational Funding

c.  Dr. thanked Hans Baltzersen and Jon Wallitsch and their team in the Business office for their hard work with the Audit. She related that the auditors were impressed. Hans thanked his staff

1. Approval – Tenure

2. Approval – Solicitation to Bid

It is recommended the Board authorize permission for the solicitation of bids for Paper and Janitorial Supplies through the Northampton/Monroe/Pike County Joint Purchasing Board for the 2015-2016 school year. ATTACHMENT 13.2.1

3. Approval – New Class / Positions

It is recommended the Board approve the following new class / positions:

a.  Associate Teacher (2 positions) effective January 29, 2015, additional classroom Associate Teachers in the Bangor Head Start program in the Washington Elementary School in the Bangor Area School District are needed to continue to support and expand collaboration in these types of settings.

3. Approval – New Class / Positions

It is recommended the Board approve the following new class / positions:

c.  Associate Teacher (1:1), effective February 12, 2015, and will continue until the student moves or no longer needs service. The East Stroudsburg Area School District has requested the Intermediate Unit provide this position to meet the needs of an individual student. (PH, Colonial Academy) ATTACHMENT 13.4.b

d.  (1)Teacher and (2) Associate Teachers effective February 26, 2015. The Pocono Mountain School District is requesting the Intermediate Unit provide an elementary School program for students with autism (Autistic Support, Swiftwater Elementary Center, PMSD). ATTACHMENT 13.4.c

4. Approval – General Operating Budget – 2014-2015

It is recommended the Board approve the General Operating Budget for 2014-2015 as presented to the CIU20 Board of Directors on December 11, 2013. ATTACHMENT 13.4

5. Approval – Completion of CIU20 Induction 2014-2015

It is recommended the Board acknowledge the following individual who has completed the CIU20 Induction Program, effective on the dates listed below.
