Pretend you are one of the characters in your book.
Write a diary entry explaining one of the events that occurred in the story.
Write the date at the top of the entry.
Start with Dear Diary,
Explain what happened and how you feel about it in about 10 sentences.
End with a closing – Your friend, Yours truly, Sincerely, etc.

Dear Diary,
I am just aching tonight. This was the worst day yet. Today I was on the monorail with my mom. Remember she is a ghost, and I am trying to help her save the rhinos.Well, anyway while we were on the monorail the bad guy we were following jumped off and landed in the buffalo pen. My mom wanted me to jump after him, but I was talking on the phone to Josh. He is so dreamy and I was enjoying every minute of our conversation. So I ignored my mom, and you know what she did? She threw my cell phone over the side! Well, then of course, I had to jump. I could not be without my cell phone. How could I communicate with Josh without my phone? Well, it was a long way down, and I did a belly flop on the hard cement. All the air whooshed out of me! I finally got my breath and although I had no broken bones, I was bruised everywhere, and my phone was broken! I am so angry with my mom. I ran away from her, and now I am not speaking to her. I don’t like being mad at her though, and I hate not being able to communicate with Josh. Diary, what should I do????
