Summary: The project "HER.STORY" treats the theme of domestic violence in rural environment. Based on a methodology of investigation and action, aims to create an intervention plan, divided in three axes: Research, Training and Complementary Actions(Evaluation). Development of a set of measures, as Case study,Regional Database,Regional Support Network, Training Actions to Professionals,Workshops to young people, Scholar Forum and a Seminar. The target grup was Experts (acquire new knowledges or share experiences), local authorities (acquire competences to ease the detection, mediation and preservation of cases of violence) and Population in general terms (access to the information and perception of the violence concept). The partnership is established between organisations from the region and European Organisations that have previously developed some projects in this field.

It prevails a systemic treatment that stimulates the participation of the community and sensitises the local agents, in a way to create a sistem of prevention, in an area where the social answers are still lacking.

The project “HER.STORY” tried to answer at some problems. In the North of the Iberian Peninsula, we identify two border zones with similar characteristics, Bragança and Castilla and León. It´s a poor region, constituted by small rural communities, with own linguistic and cultural values (Mirandês and Leonês). Region with serious economical and social problems: the women and young suffer from rural isolation, predominance of rules and traditional family values, high unemployment rates, poverty and weak social support from the available services. In Portugal, the phenomenon of urban violence has been thought, however, the domestic violence against women and young in rural communities is a know problem, but frequently ignored. Is a complex phenomenon, acquiring nuances and different levels depending on the community, so it also requires complexes intervention measures. Is necessary to involve the entire community through the presence of an active citizenship.
