The past 30+ years in the industry have taught us a great deal about our customers and employees and we recognize that both are integral to our success. Standards
TerryHills has an outstanding reputation for conducting its business activities with integrity, fairness, and in accordance with the highest ethical standards. As an employee you are required to uphold this reputation in every business activity that you take part in. If you are ever in doubt about whether an activity meets our standards please discuss it with your manager.
Open Door Policy
All management of TerryHills upholds an open door policy. Employees are encouraged to share their concerns, seek information, and provide input at all times. If you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to recommend in an effort to improve our operations please discuss them with your manager.

Harassment
It is illegal to harass others on the basis of their sex, age, race, color, national origin, religion, marital or veteran status, disability, citizenship, and other personal characteristics. Harassment includes derogatory remarks, jokes, and other verbal, physical, and visual behavior.
Sexual harassment is also prohibited. Propositions, repeated requests for dates, dirty jokes, sexually provocative pictures and other verbal, physical, and visual harassment are prohibited and will not be tolerated.
The harassment of another employee by an employee will lead to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.
Any employee who feels that harassment has occurred should document the details of the situation immediately and speak with the General Manager as soon as possible.
Employment Status
All staff members of TerryHills are classified as at-will employees. This means that the working relationship may be terminated by either party at any time for any reason that either party deems appropriate.
TerryHills places its employees into 3 categories according to hours worked per week:
Over 30 hours per week: Full-Time
15 – 30 hours per week: Part-Time
Less than 15 hours per week: Casual
Introductory Period for New Employees
All newly hired employees are subject to a 90-day introductory period. The designation of this time period does not constitute an obligation on the part of TerryHills to retain the employee until the end of the time specified. During this period, or at any time during employment, either TerryHills or the employee may terminate the working relationship without cause and without advance notice. At the end of the 90 days, TerryHills may choose to extend the period for the employee.
Injuries on the Job
All injuries incurred on the job must be reported your manager immediately regardless of how minor the injury may be. If you have any questions regarding the Worker’s Compensation Plan sponsored by TerryHills please ask your manager.
Safety
TerryHills expects its employees to conduct themselves in a safe manner at all times. This can be accomplished by using good judgment and common sense in matters of safety, observe all safety rules posted in various areas around the facility, and follow all OSHA and state safety regulations.
Witnessing a Medical Emergency
Calm the person with the medical problem and try to assess what the problem is. Assist if you are trained to do so. Delegate someone to call 911 and contact a manager. Recruit someone nearby help to disperse on-lookers.
Other Emergencies
Be aware of your work environment and prepare yourself for any type of emergency that may arise. In all situations, notify a manager as soon as possible. Know where the exits are located, how windows open, where the fire extinguishers are located and how to use them.
Smoking Policy
In accordance with New York State Law, no one is allowed to smoke indoors. All staff members are required to smoke in the designated smoking areas located around the facility.
Dress Code
What we wear to work is a direct reflection of the pride that we have in ourselves and TerryHills. To favorably impress our customers, it is important for all employees to present a businesslike appearance. Here are some guidelines:
- The wearing of uniforms is required as outlined by your manager.
- Your uniform should always be clean and pressed
- All clothing must not constitute a safety hazard
- There will be no visible body piercing jewelry including tongue rings, nose rings, lip rings, etc.
- All employees should practice common sense rules of neatness, good taste, and comfort
- Individual departments may have additional requirements and/or restrictions on dress code, appearance, etc. such as limitations to body piercing and facial hair
Outside Employment
TerryHills does not limit an employee’s activities during nonworking hours unless those activities interfere or are in conflict with the performance of his/her job, or create a conflict of interest.
Compensation Policies
The Standard Pay Period for all employees is on a weekly basis starting on Monday morning and ending Sunday evening. Payday is generally Friday and your paycheck will be issued to you by your manager.
The Time Keeping System requires all employees to punch in when they report for work and punch out promptly at the end of their shift. Unless a change in your schedule has been approved by your manager, you should not punch in more than 7 minutes before the scheduled starting or ending time of your shift. Violation of this may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Overtime will be issued in accordance with the Federal and State law. The compensation for overtime is 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for hours worked over 40 in one week.
The Payroll Deductions listed below are required by the Federal and State law and will be present in your paycheck on a weekly basis:

Medicare
Direct Deposit of your paycheck is available to all interested employees. Fill out the authorization form and attach a voided check from the account in which you would like your money deposited.
Pay Increases are based on merit, business conditions, or other factors as dictated by management.
All compensation is considered confidential information. It is prohibited for all employees to discuss their compensation or any other employee’s wages. Failure to follow this guideline may result in termination. Any questions regarding your paycheck should be directed to your manager.
Employee Parking and Entering the Facility
Employee parking is assigned according to department. Please see your manager for more details.
Be sure to obey all speed and safety laws when entering and leaving the facility.
Telephone Use
Personal telephone calls will not be put through to employees except in the case of an emergency. Please inform your friends and family not to contact you while at work. Employees are also not permitted to place outgoing calls for their personal use or use cell phones at anytime while at work except during a scheduled break.
Personnel Files
TerryHills maintains up-to-date personnel files on all employees. Please inform your manager of any changes that need to be made to your personnel files as soon as possible.
Release of Information
Except for records and information that we are legally required to provide to government agencies, no information about you will be released unless there is a signed authorization form from you on file and the request is in writing.
Golf Benefits
Employees of TerryHills will receive the following weekly golf benefits based on their employment status:
Full-Time – 27 total holes of golf with the use of a cart per week
Part-Time – 18 total holes of golf with the use of a cart per week
Casual – 9 total holes of golf with the use of a cart per week
- Unused holes of golf and cart cannot be rolled over from week to week
- Golf privileges are for the employee only and may NOT be transferred to a third party (all guests must pay)
- Employees are asked to golf during NON-PEAK TIMES
- Use of this privilege is at the discretion of the pro shop and management
- Any employee that abuses this policy will have their golf privileges revoked
Meal Benefits
All employees receive 1/2 off the price of a meal at the restaurant during their scheduled shift(items are also available at a discounted price at the halfway house). When ordering a meal, please respect your co-workers and use common sense by avoiding busy times. Alcoholic drinks are never available at a discount price and the consumption of alcohol is prohibited while at work. Drinking on-site after your shiftis also discouraged.
Absenteeism and Tardiness
TerryHills expects employees to be at work on time and to work the schedule as posted by your manager. Any employee who will be absent from work for any reason must call their manager at least one hour in advance of the start time of his or her scheduled shift. Repeated absenteeism/tardiness may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Unacceptable Job Performance and Disciplinary Action
TerryHills follows the following general disciplinary action system unless otherwise covered by law:
1st Offense – Verbal Warning
2nd Offense – Written Warning
3rd Offense – Termination of Employment
Grounds for Immediate Termination:
- Striking another employee for any reason
- Using illegal drugs on TerryHills property
- Sleeping on the job
- Consumption of alcohol on the job unless specifically authorized by your manager
- Taking anything that is not yours off the premises
- Leaving the property during your shift without notifying your manager
- Failing to follow proper cash handling or closeout procedures
- Insubordination to any member of management
- Gambling on the premises
Termination
Employment at TerryHills is for no specified time. Just as you are free to leave for any reason, we reserve the right to end our relationship with you at any time, with or without notice, for any reason not prohibited by law.
Exit Interviews
Exit interviews are encouraged upon termination of employment regardless of reason. At this time you may openly address any concerns that you may have.
