Second Marking Period Research Project
The following research options are here to encourage and enhance your research abilities. As you move in to higher learning you will notice that the vast amount of responsibility for learning falls on you. Therefore it is critical for you to practice this skill early and often. This project is meant as a support, not a “gotcha.” I would like to ensure that you are given a means of success as I do not wish for you to dislike research.
Step one: Choosing one of the 4 strands of History
Economic
Social
Political
Intellectual/Religious
Step two: Choose the project you wish to accomplish
Option 1: Written Paper
· You will write a research paper, no less than 5 pages, on the changes during the eighteenth century in Europe. The research is to be done individually and thoroughly.
· The research is to use proper MLA formatting (providing you with practice for your senior projects).
· Sources: No less than 6 sources should be cited and 4 of which should be “non electronic”
o i.e. essays, books, first hand accounts
o If you find an essay online it is not considered electronic
· Must group your research into mini chapters
o i.e. Economics : Theories, Mercantilism, Leading Countries, Methods of Production, etc
Option 2 : Visual Presentation
· At least 20 pictures / works of art and their connections to the change in the time period
· Each description should be a paragraph in length
· All works of art must be cited
· Present to class in a 4-5 minute story telling format
o The art should tell the story of the change in the century
· It is encouraged to use artwork from outside the century to show the changes. Note, this does not count towards your 20 pieces.
