A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND EXPRESS DEEP APPRECIATION TO MR. FRANK O. HUNT FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AND OUTSTANDING INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING IN THE CHARLESTON AREA, UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM WCIVTV.

Whereas, Mr. Frank O. Hunt, Jr. grew up in Charleston, became interested in broadcasting while in high school, listened avidly to local radio stations, and even went to visit them a few times; and

Whereas, while serving his country in the Air Force, Mr. Hunt attended the Arkansas School of Broadcasting, and became a reporter for the military known as "Hunt, Frank O."; and

Whereas, after leaving the military in 1968, Mr. Hunt became the morning announcer at WNCG in Charleston, and later worked for WQSN, WEZL, AND WTMA, taking the news very seriously, even though music was the main focus of the stations; and

Whereas, in 1974, WCIV Channel 4 hired Mr. Hunt as a photographer and reporter, which after a short time evolved into his position as morning anchor; and

Whereas, after uncovering crucial evidence as a reporter, Mr. Hunt sharpened his investigative skills by dedicating over four years to the Solicitor's office as chief investigator, but later returned to television reporting at Channel 4; and

Whereas, over the years, Mr. Hunt has interviewed such important public figures as Ronald Reagan, Muhammed Ali, Bob Hope, and Henry Kissinger, as well as presenting a series called "Free Money" that enabled people to find $1 million that would have otherwise gone unclaimed; and

Whereas, Mr. Hunt has chosen to stay in the Charleston area and cover stories with his unique experience and fairness, even though other job opportunities presented themselves. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends and sincerely thanks Mr. Frank O. Hunt for his many years of dedicated and excellent reporting in the Charleston community, and extends its best wishes to him upon the occasion of his retirement from WCIV.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Frank O. Hunt, Jr.
