“GET TO 50”

SPELLING CONTRACT

This is your weekly spelling contract. Choose any of the following options. Your goal is to reach or exceed 50 points. Make sure to spell ALL words correctly on each activity. A grade will be given that corresponds to the amount of points you earn.

All contract work is due on Friday morning before you take your spelling test. Late spelling homework will receive only half credit. This homework is meant to help you study for your test on Friday. Do not wait until Thursday night to do all of your activities!

Choose any of the following options for spelling homework. Circle the options you chose and staple your work to the contract. Fill out the chart on the back and give yourself a grade.


1. Write your spelling words in ABC order. (10 points)
2. Write a poem using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points)
3. Use graph paper or the website www.puzzlemaker.com to create a word search using all of your spelling words. (15 points)
4. Create a cartoon strip using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points)
5. Write your spelling words 4 times each. (20 points)
6. Compose a song using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points – Extra credit if you sing it!)

7. Write a skit or play using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points – Extra credit if you perform it!)
8. Divide each spelling word into syllables. (10 points)
9. Put 10 spelling words in meaningful sentences. Please use only one word per sentence. (15 points)
10. Type your spelling list four times on a computer, with each list typed in a different font. Print it out. (15 points)
11. Have a friend or family member quiz you on our spelling words. (10 points)

12. Rainbow Words – Write your spelling words with a crayon. Trace over each word with another color. Now trace each word one more time with another color. DO NOT use black or brown. (15 points)
13. Ladder Words – Write each spelling word as shown below: (15 points)

14. Cut 10 of your spelling words out of a newspaper or magazine. Glue them on construction paper to create a spelling collage. (15 points)
15. Cut out a picture from a newspaper or a magazine and use spelling words to write a story about the picture. (15 points).

16. Write each spelling word two times. Draw an icon or symbol next to each word to remind you how to spell the word. (20 points)

17. Use Kidspiration or Inspiration to create a word web using 10 of your words. Include a picture or icon for each word. Print final product. (Challenge only option) (20 points)

18. Write a creative story using at least 8 of your words. (15 points)

19. Write your words in a secret code (include code legend). (15 points)

20. Write your words using one color for vowels and another color for consonants. (10 points)
