Greetings! My name is ______and I have been an active member of your parish (if not a parish member list affiliation, youth program) for _____ years. First of all I want to thank you and the parish community for proving me with such a great faith formation through (youth group, Lifeteen, religious education, NET team visits, etc.). This parish community has been a huge blessing for my faith journey! This is one of the reasons I am writing you now!
As I am (current status: finishing my last year of high school/college, working full-time senior year of high school), I have been prayerfully discerning what God might be calling me to do next in my life. After much prayer, discernment, and speaking with friends and family members, I have decided to apply for a year of service with NET Ministries for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Now I am writing to let you know that I have officially been accepted and I will be serving missionary for NET Ministries strive to reach over 90,000 youth with the gospel!
In August I will travel to Minnesota to participate in a five-week faith-training program where I will learn how to grow in my own personal faith and effectively share it with others. Then from September to May, I will be in full-time active ministry with my assigned NET team where I will engage youth on a daily basis by helping lead retreats, giving talks, and leading small groups at Catholic parishes and schools. I am excited to get out and start sharing the mission on NET!
The first leg of my missionary journey has already begun as I have been sending out letters, making phone calls, and talking with prospective ministry partners who have a passion for evangelization in the Catholic Church! In order to cover the costs of training, healthcare, and a small monthly stipend, NET Ministries has asked me to raise a minimum of $6,000 in ministry partnership to cover a quarter of the cost of my missionary year of service. While I plan to raise as much of my ministry partnership by pursuing people individually, I would also like to meet with you in the near future to share my ministry vision and financial goals and explore the possibility to speaking in front of the parish as well. The reception that most NET missionaries have received from addressing parishioners has been very well received and inspirational as they see others still willing to offer a year of service to proclaim the Gospel to Catholic young people.
