2013 MHS Local Scholarship Application
- Only students enrolled in the Coos Bay School District
who plan to receive a diploma in 2013 may apply.
- To maximize success and ensure a uniform presentation to
the Scholarship Committee, students should complete the
application available on the Marshfield High School website.
The application is formatted in Microsoft Word.
Any student who has difficulty completing the application
in this format (.doc) should contact Mrs. Jennifer Bunnell.
- Some scholarships have specific requirements and require that additional information be submitted.
Check Page #6 for specific guidelines and submit any additional material.
- Remember, neatness counts! Your completed application will be photocopied and distributed
to the various selection committees who choose the scholarship recipients.
- The Scholarship Committee, a dedicated group of community volunteers, will decide the scholarships for which you qualify. The list of scholarships is available on the website.
- Scholarships will be awarded at the Scholarship Assembly and the Senior Awards Dessert in the spring.

JASON FORRESTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP –
This scholarship honors the memory of Jason Forrester, a former MHS student. One award of $1500.
Selection criteria include:
- Lettering in a competitive sport
- Good moral character
- Demonstrated leadership
- Minimum 3.00 GPA
The committee will pay particular attention to the Applicant’s goals and plans for achieving them in the Personal Statement, Question #1. Please be as specific as possible.
Two references from adults in the community are required.
One recommendation may come from a Coos Bay School District staff member.

MARSHFIELD VOCATIONAL/TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP
These scholarships are awarded to students planning to advance his/her education and training in skills needed for a career in a vocational or technical trade that requires a certificate or an associate’s degree.
For example: apprenticeships, auto technician, truck driving school, welding, cosmetology, massage therapy, medical assistant, culinary arts, etc.
Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree do not qualify for this specific scholarship.
Selection criteria include:
- Motivation
- Leadership
- Involvement in school/community activities and service
- Financial need is a consideration.
The committee will pay particular attention to the Applicant’s goals and plans for achieving them in the Personal Statement, Question #1. Please be as specific as possible.
One reference from a teacher or an adult mentor is required.
The recommendation form is available in student services.
Applicant must complete an interview with a member of the Voc/Tech Scholarship Committee, which will be scheduled in the spring by the committee.
