A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE CAMBRIDGE ACADEMY TENNIS TEAM OF GREENWOOD ON ITS IMPRESSIVE 2005 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS A BOYS STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, LYNN ISENHOWER, FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON.
Whereas, excelling at the game of tennis requires an inordinate amount of strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coach Lynn Isenhower and the members of the Cambridge Academy Tennis Team finished their season with a 2005 Class A Boys State Championship Title when they defeated Lowcountry Day School at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia on May 4, 2005; and
Whereas, this win is especially exceptional as the team consists of players ranging from grades five through nine, both boys and girls, with varying strength and skill ability; and
Whereas, the team brought great pride to their school and community when they won fifteen out of eighteen individual and doubles matches in region competition, and four out of six singles matches and two doubles matches in state championship competition; and
Whereas, this is not the first time that the team has seen their hard work and hours of labor pay off, as Cambridge captured the SCISA Class A Boys State Tennis Championship in 2004, and was runnerup to the title in 2003; and
Whereas, the top six tennis players include Brandon Dennin, Alex Biffle, Jason Isenhower, Matthew Menard, Will Bachinski, and Sam Hunley, and are followed by Sarah Seigler, John Isenhower, Arielle Barraca, Tommy Adams, Julianne Welch, Joshua Kelly, Jonathan Leary, Grant McDonald, and Bass Willard; and
Whereas, it is with great enthusiasm that the members of the General Assembly esteem the Cambridge Academy Tennis Team, and salute its players as serving as veritable models for what can be accomplished with great dedication, heart, and followthrough. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Cambridge Academy Tennis Team of Greenwood on its impressive 2005 South Carolina Independent School Association Class A Boys State Tennis Championship title and honor the players and their coach, Lynn Isenhower, for an extraordinary season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the players and coach of the Cambridge Academy Tennis Team and Cambridge Academy officials.
