French and Indian War Research

The French and Indian War is an important part of American History that was a leading cause to the American Revolution. Due to the debt acquired as a result of the expensive war with the French, colonists felt threatened by the increasing taxes and began to revolt against the British Crown.

In this project, students will work in groups to research their topic and create a presentation to present their assigned topic. Students will spend two days researching and finding relevant information on their topics and answer the follow questions:

  • Howis /are the person(s), idea(s), or event(s)a turning point in American history?
  • What would happen if the outcomes or end results of the topic were reversed?
  • How do these people, ideas, or events effect the economy, politics and the ideology of the American Colonies?

They will then take this information and formulate a five minute presentation on their topic.Presentations may range from a Power Point, to a play, to any other number of methods that the group chooses. The information must be exciting, engaging, and pertinent to the subject matter. Students will present these to their class and be required to take notes on all other topics.

Students will be graded on their presentations according to the assigned Rubric. This project is worth 100 points. The grade will additionally be based on the grade they give themselves and their partners. Two days will be given in class for the research, however work outside of class is going to be needed. Two days in class will also be used for the presentations.
