The KSJS staff would to thank you for your interest in being interviewed on our station. As a non-profit underground radio station, KSJS is always pleased to support local and international talent. KSJS is a 24-hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year business. KSJS serves over 30,000 SJSU students, broadcasts to over four counties in the Bay Area, and to the world online. There are rules and regulations for every aspect of our on air presence.
In exchange for your time on air to promote your band, event, album, or other endeavor we ask that you follow our rules and those of the F.C.C. While on the air we ask that you conform to the rules below. If you violate the below rules we reserve the right to ask you to leave without any previous notice. Furthermore we reserve the right to ban you from future appearances and interviews on KSJS.
KSJS and F.C.C. rules are as follow;
1. Obscenities
- There is NO safe harbor at KSJS, meaning there can be no violations said over our airwaves at any time of day. Violations are as follows:
- Use of swear words including shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits, bitch).
- Referring to any body excrement.
- Using obscenities including any discrimination toward a race, religion, or sex.
2. Qualitatives, Quantitatives, Directives, and Prices
As a non-commercial station we must follow these rules in order to not indirectly promote or advertise, and also to protect the listeners from receiving false or misleading information. The rules are:
- You may not refer to the quality of a product or service, for example, “In-n-out has the best burgers”.
- A Directive is telling the listener to do something, “You have to go buy this album”.
- Quantitatives are using numbers to describe a for-profit entity. “They have 1,000 CD’s in stock”. Quantitatives also encompasses not indicating prices of a product “Tickets are on sale for $30 bucks at the door”.
NOTE: “Free” is also a price.
