My Continuing Competence Form

The intention of the following document is to provide practitioners with an offline framework to provide evidence of their continued competence while the Board finalises the ePortfolio development. Use of the ePortfolio starts from 1 April 2016.

There is a sheet for each of the five competencies. Each sheet provides space for documenting a self assessment, goal and subsequent development activities towards achieving the goal. The practitioner may either type and save the file to their own PC or download and complete by hand. It is recommended that the form is utilised within supervision as a basis for discussing/recording continued competence in practice and for 3rd Partys to make use of when attesting to a practitioners competence to practice.

This is an interim measure as the Board looks at launching our new ePortfolio. Our Competencies for Registration have undergone a review, and the new competencies, Competencies for Registration and Continuing Practicehave been in force since 1 April 2015.The Board has designated the 2015/16 practising year (1 April 2015 – 31 March 2016) as a transition period. This will provide you with the opportunity to make yourself familiar with the new competencies during the 2015/16 practising year and identify any areas you need to develop. You will be required to comply with the new competencies when you apply for your practising certificate in 2016/17.

The new e-Portfolio tool (the electronic online platform for recording your continuing competence) with the updated five competencies will be released later this year. During the transition phase you are expected to actively engage with the new competencies, and will need to ensure you have set professional development objectives and developed a plan of activities in your ePortfolio in order to apply for your practising certificate in 2016/17.

Until the ePortfolio becomes available practitioners are encouraged to use this form. Please note that you may need to modify the form to reflect the current five Competencies for Registration and Continuing Practice.
