ED FORUM-Looking Ahead to 2017

November 30 – December 2, 2016

Drury Inn and Suites Burlington, NC

Forum goalsprovide Smart Start Executive Directors with opportunities to:

  • Be inspired
  • Learn new things that are meaningful to them and to their partnerships
  • Exchange and apply energizing ideas
  • Connect with fellow state-wide leaders

Conversation Guidelines
  • Step up--Take risks, and bring your experiences and wisdom to the “table.”
During group discussions: please use microphones so all can hear /
  • Stay engaged--Staying engaged is a refusal to let your mind “check out” of the conversation while leaving your body in place. It’s a personal commitment each person makes, regardless of the engagement of others.

  • Make room--While it’s important for each of us to use our voice, it’s also imperative that we make room for everyone’s voice. This norm is not only about making space, but also about listening to what others say. Think about what it will take to make room to really hear other people.
/
  • Make your assumptions transparent--Let others know what's going on behind your thinking and ask others to do so as well. ("What leads you to conclude that?”)

  • Maintain confidentiality--To support each other in our risk-taking we agree to keep our conversations here (“what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” rule)
Please respect the boundaries of others by not posting pictures on social media without permission.
