Call for applications: Kenya-France PAMOJA PHC (2015-2016)

“PAMOJA PHC” is now open and accepting applications from scientists working and living in Kenya and are attached to any public institution operating in the Higher Education and research sector and officially recognized by the State to apply for its researchers’ mobility fund.

“PAMOJA PHC” is a bilateral scientific cooperation agreement signed earlier this year between Kenya and France. Through this initiative, Kenyan research institutions and researchers will gain access to 400 French research laboratories.

This agreementaims to strengthen cooperation in Higher Education, Science and Technology.

In Kenya, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology through the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI)will implement “PAMOJA PHC” programme; and in France the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development (MAEDI) and the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research (MENESR) will implement it.

Funds awarded are to support researchers’ mobility (including doctoral, post-doctoral students and Junior Researchers) between the two countries, i.e.:international flights, accommodation and allowances (including social insurance).The researchers will be required to seek complementary funding for their projects from other sources.

Proposals for funding are welcome from all disciplines. However, priority will be given to projects carried out in the following areas

  • Space Science and Technology;
  • Biotechnologies and Biosciences (includes Health, Agriculture, Biomathematics);
  • Energy Science and Technology;
  • Computer Science;
  • Environmental Science;
  • Humanities and Social Sciences; and
  • Engineering and the Built Environment.

Guidelines for Kenya applicants

Scientists working and living in Kenya and are attached to any public institution operating in the Higher Education and research sector and officially recognized by the State.

The Institutions responsible for the partner teams must validate applications.

Two scientific coordinators, one in Kenya and one in France will manage each project.
