Position: / 24 Hour Crisis Response CoordinatorEmployment Period: / Part Time 30.4 (.8EFT) ongoing position employment (based on availability of recurrent funding).

Reports to: / Manager Family Violence Service
Responsibility: / This position is responsible for the management and coordination of the Family Violence After Hours Face to Face and Police Faxback component of the Western Integrated Family Violence Services for women and children
Internal Relationships: / This person will have a direct role in supervising and overseeing the practice standards the Family Violence After Hours Service and will work in conjunction with the coordinators of the FV outreach and FV Intake services. In addition, they will build positive working relationships with all other staff within WHW.
External Relationships: / The person in this position will maintain and initiate effective working relationships with clients and a wide range of community, legal and health workers Western Sub-Region. They will participate at sub-regional family violence meetings and develop good working relationships with other after hours domestic violence services. In particular, develop and maintain good relations with police by acting as a liaison between WHW and police.
Remuneration: / The position is ongoing 30.4 hours per week. Salary and conditions based on qualifications and experience in accordance with the Women’s Health West Enterprise Agreement 2010. Salary packaging options available as per Women’s Health West policy. An initial three month probationary period will apply as part of the employment offer and contractual agreement.
A current Police Clearance is mandatory and must be provided soon after acceptance of position for verification.

KeyObjectives:
The 24 crisis response service is a key component of the WHW family violence outreach service. The 24 crisis response service includes after hours face to face response, faxback weekend response and crisis face to face response during business hours.
The 24 crisis response coordinator will have the important function of managing and coordinating the operation of the:
- weekend faxback service and ensuring its linkages to the weekday faxback response. The faxback weekend response is delivered in partnership with McAuley Community Service for Women;
- after hours and weekday crisis response service;
- client high risk and recidivists strategies;
- court support program.
Key Accountabilities
The Co-ordinator - Family Violence 24 Hours Crisis Response Services will be responsible for:
- Crisis response service practice standards in collaboration with staff and family violence service’s management team. To ensure high quality service provision in the delivery of crisis intervention, initial risk assessment and management support, and practical support to women and children experiencing family violence.
- Provision of Secondary Consultation to external agencies and acceptance of appropriate referrals from external service providers
- Provide and facilitate professional development opportunities for after hours workers and crisis response workers.
- Provide professional supervision to 2 x crisis response workers.
- Ensuring linkages between after hours and day services including court support, police fax backs and allocation to outreach case management service.
- Information and data management of both the after hours and faxback police referral.
- Training and promotion of the after hours and faxback services to police across the region
- Development and maintenance of positive working relationship between family violence services and police.
- Coordinate and Monitor the Client High Risk Notification List
In collaboration with the Co-ordinator - Family Violence Crisis Outreach Service and Co-ordinator – Family Violence Crisis Intake Services the Coordinator 24 hours response service will be responsible for:
- Provision of daily complex staffsupport/direction
- Training and support of workers in the maintenance of the SHIP electronic database.
- Maintenance and development of an Integrated Family Violence practice framework, practice processes and systems, policies and procedures in collaboration with the team.
- Be part of an after hours coordinator on call roster – rostered on for one week every 4 weeks.
- Participating as a member of the Family Violence Service Management Team.
The Coordinator will work within a community development framework with other services providers to ensure an integrated response to family violence that is demonstrated by clear and consistent referral pathways and protocols.

- Support, consult and supervise direct service staff under your line management on all aspects of their role in accordance with established practice standards and provide regular individual staff supervision.
- Recognise child protection issues and raise concerns withCo-ordinator FV Outreach Service, FV Intake Coordinator and/or FV Program Manager for decisions on notification to DHS.
- Advocate on behalf of service users to ensure access to relevant services related to family violence support services including health, income security, drug and alcohol, psychiatric, legal, CALD and disability issues etc.
- Coordinate casual after hours staff and manage the after hours roster
- Provide professional development activities for casual after hours workers and organise regular team meetings..
- Undertake additional duties as directed
- Provide secondary consultation and advice to other professionals and support team members in their role of providing efficient and professional service to other agencies.
- In consultation with the outreach coordinator and intake coordinator participate in community education and information provision to other service provider/ networks as requested.
- Participate in and help facilitate regular team, staff and management meetings and attend and report to other internal meetings as required;
- Develop, review and maintain direct service policies and procedures and pro-actively monitor team practice in this area;
- Report regularly to and update the Program Manager as required on service operations and other areas of responsibility including crisis situations and/or risk management matters ;
- Participate in cross team working groups and initiatives as appropriate;
- Liaise with programs and services where there are connections with direct service delivery;

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
To completely perform in this position, the person should possess knowledge, skills and experience based upon six Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Regular performance monitoring will be against the Key Objectives and Accountabilities and K.P.I.’s.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
1.Evidence of qualifications in Social Work or other related discipline or extensive experience within the family violence service sector.
2.Substantial direct service experience including:
- Significant experience in the provision of early intervention/ crisis counselling/support and complex case work;
- Working with culturally diverse communities ;
- A developed understanding in working with children that have been or are affected by DV/trauma;
- A highly developed understanding of the structural, theoretical and recovery issues surrounding family and domestic violence;
- An understanding of the housing sector (public/private housing, segmented waiting, crisis accommodation, Transitional Housing and women’s refuges etc.)
- An understanding of Family Law and Crimes (Family Violence) Act
- An understanding of the privacy and confidentiality issues and the legal requirements;
3.Staff supervision experience and understanding of:
- Reflective supervision in practice;
- Demonstrated experience in supervision of direct service workers;
4.Staff Support and Team Development:
- Knowledge of effective learning strategies and competency based approaches;
- Ability to work as a part of a team, coordinate and lead a team and a clear understanding of effective team processes;
5.Skills and confidence to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, including liaison with other relevant professionals;

PERFORMANCE MONITORING
Fixed Term Position:
Appropriate arrangements for performance monitoring will be determined, based on the duration and scope of the position.
For Continuing Employment Position:
An initial review of performance will be undertaken within three months of commencement, as per WHW’s probation policy and then formally every twelve months using the six Key Performance Indicators (K.P.I.’s).
Review of Position Description:
This position description will be reviewed annually as part of performance management, when the position description becomes vacant or as deemed as necessary.
