Monday:

Today I cleaned out the boot pit at 3 which was pretty dirty. Dan was helping me, by pulling all the dirt I got out with a rope and bucket. After I finished that, I worked on my flow diagram. I finished with Pit 4’s diagram and am currently working on 1 and 2 .

Tuesday:

For the majority of today, Joe and I drove out to Illinois with Mike and Clay from Fullerton for the river cleanup. When we got there, I met Jeff Becker and got a little lesson in the importance of the word “the”. After that my group competed in some games with other teams and we also networked with some of the Regional and Divisional managers.

Wednesday:

Today we toured a lock and dam system on the Mississippi. We were supposed to clean up the river, but the poison ivy was too tall for us to work in. After our little boat trip, we had lunch and did a little more networking. We had this paper that had all these different facts about the Regionals and Divisionals and the goal was to get as many as you could and meet as many people as possible. It was really interesting to meet all of the people who help run the company, and hearing all of their stories and experiences at ADM. Then we went on a canoe trip. That was pretty fun, except for the fact that my partner and I couldn’t steer the canoe to save our lives. We had a lot of fun just trying to keep it straight, and even had some help from a professional kayaker. Once we started doing what he said, it got a little easier. We finally got back to shore, completely exhausted. It didn’t help that I was already tired from walking up a mountain of a hill, but it was still a fun experience. We then broke off into teams to compete in a scavenger hunt which was also pretty fun. I got to work with some of the other interns and even the managers to get all the pictures required. All in all, it was a pretty productive day.

Thursday:

Today was a slower day, being as it was the final day and everyone was getting ready to leave. My group got to go zip lining and alpine racing today which was awesome. The alpine racing was especially fun because there was speeding vehicles involved. It was fun to race against my friends to see who the best was. We also had some intern presentations and at the very end, there was a Q&A with all the Managers.

Friday:

Today I helped out at pit 4 while Damon and Chris worked on putting a silencer on one of our fans. When they were done with that, Chris took over at 4 and I went inside to work on my project. I started calling around to the local concrete company and doing research on all of the tools we’ll need to pour the concrete. I started looking up prices for all of the tools so that I could get an idea of what this project will cost us.
