Reports to Pastor

Under the supervision and direction of the Pastor, the Parish Business Manager has overall responsibility for the parish in the areas of facilities, finances, stewardship and development.

FACILITIES

1.  oversee all parish facilities and properties, including the cemetery: maintenance,

upkeep, updating and replacement

2.  work with appropriate committees and councils in developing and continually

updating a five-year plan for maintenance and capital improvement

3.  make all day-to-day decisions concerning use, maintenance and upkeep for all

parish facilities and properties, in conjunction with maintenance department

4.  seek, evaluate and make judgments concerning all bids and contracts concerning

facilities and properties

5.  provide for any emergency situations

6.  supervise all maintenance staff

7.  provide for and coordinate office technology, and equipment and supplies

8.  prepare archdiocesan risk assessment reports

9.  prepare archdiocesan comprehensive inventories

10.  maintain relationships with athletic boosters

11.  oversee health department and fire department inspections

FINANCES

  1. determine and manage the parish budget, in consultation with the Finance Council
  2. work with Parish Staff to develop a yearly budget for each area of ministry
  3. maintain transparent bookkeeping policies, according to archdiocesan standards
  4. keep all financial records in good order, according to archdiocese policies
  5. oversee all parish fundraising ventures, particularly weekly bingo
  6. provide yearly reports to archdiocese and monthly reports to Pastor and Finance Council
  7. work with Finance Council and School Advisory Council in setting school budget and the parish’s tuition subsidy
  8. engage school parents in meeting the “participating parishioner” expectations for reception of tuition subsidy, including development, communication and enforcement of the expectations
  9. supervise office administrative staff
  10. maintain parish census and data base
  11. oversee record keeping for fingerprinting and background checks of all parish personnel and volunteers, and billing of four entities who pay for their volunteers
  12. with the pastor, develop and enact a total stewardship plan and approach for the Parish
  13. oversee bingo administration, including annual State of Ohio reports
  14. manage matching gifts
  15. administer three checking accounts and three archdiocesan CD accounts

HUMAN REOURCES

1.  update yearly the job descriptions of all Parish Staff, including the Pastor

2.  develop and enact parish personnel policies, and maintain complete and current personnel files, handbook and archdiocesan directives

3.  participate in the hiring, evaluation and termination of Parish Staff, in collaboration with the Pastor

4.  oversee and administer all payroll and payables, FSA, retirement

5.  handle workers’ comp, vacations and sick time

6.  oversee wellness initiative

7.  co-chair Winterfest

STEWARDSHIP/DEVELOPMENT

1.  provide ongoing encouragement and the process for parishioners to make

bequests

2.  establish and maintain a planned giving club: “Leaving a Legacy of Loaves”

3.  chair Stewardship Committee, including involvement in Oktoberfest

4.  acknowledge memorials, bequests and large donations

5.  co-manage website

6.  supervise and edit bi-monthly newsletter

Required

-  experience with business administration

-  practicing Catholic in good standing

-  parish experience or degree or certification in religious studies/pastoral ministry or its equivalent

-  desire to seek appropriate Archdiocesan Certification

Meetings

-  Parish Pastoral Staff – 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month

-  Finance Council – Quarterly, as needed and scheduled with Chair

-  Buildings Committee – Quarterly, as needed

-  Stewardship Committee – Quarterly, as needed

-  Parish Pastoral Council – as requested by Pastor

-  Archdiocesan Association of Business Managers/Administrators

Working Environment

-  limited secretarial and administrative assistance

-  consistent and regular presence on parish grounds

-  available for evening and weekend emergency calls
