Guidelines for the Assignment

Objective:

This assignment is designed to provide the learner with an opportunity to analyze and critique a nursing theory in the context of evidence-based practice.

Assignment:

1. Each student will select a nursing theorist/theory for presentation. Presentations should provide class members with an overview of the theory and its concepts, as well as how the theory can be or is utilized to support evidence based practice.

Presentations should be approximately 30-40 minutes in length. All class members are expected to participate through discussion.

2. Handouts or audiovisual materials are expected. PowerPoint may be used. Be sure to practice your presentation so that you are not reading your notes or your audiovisuals.

3. Theory/theorist selection should be approved a least one week prior to presentation, and students should each select a different theorist. Students may choose from

the list below OR select another nurse theorists/grand or middle range theory to be considered. Theories must be nursing theories rather than borrowed theories.
