“Good Fit Book” Response

Write about the book you just finished, or the book you are now reading. Tell what makes it a “good fit book” for you. Remember, a “good fit book” is a book you liked, or even better, loved! It is a book that you want to keep reading.

Here are some things to think about when you are writing about why the book was right for you.

1. What made you think this book would be good when you chose it?

2. What did you like about the characters?

3. What did you like about the story?

4. What did you like about what the author did that made the book good?

Sample:

The False Prince by J. Nielsen I loved/liked this book!

1. I chose this book because I read the flap and it said it took place in medieval times. I like books that have that setting. Also, the story and characters described in the flap reminded me of The Ranger’s Apprentice Series that I really liked. After reading the flap, I wanted to know what was going to happen to the main character, Sage. The last reason I thought it would be a good fit for me, was because it was the right size for me.

2. One of the main reasons I loved this book was the cast of characters. There were so many interesting ones. I especially liked Sage. He was smart, clever, kind, and he stood up for what he thought was right. I really wanted to know what was going to happen to him.

3. I loved this story. I was always trying to figure out which characters could be trusted. I was always wondering what Sage was up to. I wondered which of the three boys Conner would choose. There were many surprises and twists to this story because some people were not who they claimed to be. I just loved how it ended. I cannot wait for the sequel.

4. The author wrote a story with cliffhangers and suspense- “And that was my first clue about why Conner had taken us. We were all in terrible danger.”

Also, I loved her descriptions because they helped me visualize so well –“ I stared icily at him.” “The entire right side of my body throbbed.” “ Our eyes locked as he lifted me.”

Lastly, I loved how she ended the story. Many problems were resolved and it was a satisfying ending, but she still left some questions, and I know I will be anxious to read the next book.
