Biographical Sketch
Dr. B. K. Sy has secured over one million dollars of research and contract grants and has over 100 publications and presentations on federally and privately funded research. He is also a security profession certified by CISSP and the holder of four patents. One of his patents was sold to a private group for intellectual property acquisition. His SIPPA team was a cohort of the NSF Innovation-Corps program in early 2013. Through the I-Corps program, his team has focused on applying patented technology to tackle secure and private digital health information exchange, synchronization and consolidation. His team is a finalist of the NYC Innovate Health Tech 2013; and his SIPPA Health technology is recommended for NSF SBIR funding commencing July 1 2014.
His research spans over multi-disciplinary areas such as privacy preserving secure computation for Health IT, biometric security and privacy, data mining for pattern learning and discovery, VoIP over wireless network and application of optimization for WiFi AP placement, speaker verification and voice recognition, and application of information-statistical data analysis for bioinformatics, census, and environmental study. His cross-discipline collaboration has contributed to better understanding of the climate change and earthquake modeling based on multi-population theory and change point detection, chromosome classification based on information theory, and dysarthric speech evaluation using computer based voice recognizer.
