Get ready to put your debate skills to the test! Join us for our first all-girls debate tournament of 2018! From abolitionists, Civil Rights Movement organizers, to Suffragettes – women have always been debaters. The Girls Debate League tournament strives to continue that history!
Debaters will participate in at least two debate rounds from their respective debate format and topic. They will have the opportunity to participate in competitive debate while enhancing their community of supportive young women. With keynote speakers, a trophy celebration, and creative activities throughout the day, this is a tournament you do not want to miss!
**Breakfast and lunch will be provided**
Who:
NYCUDL registered middle school and high school debaters. Teacher/Coach/Parent chaperone required. All participants must have completed the NYCUDL Permission Slip for the season. Click below if you have not yet completed!

Debate Topics (We are following the regular January debate topics)
Parliamentary Debaters - Parliamentary Debate New York City Topic - This House would remove the statue of limitations for sexual assault.
Public Forum Debaters - Public Forum National Topic - Resolved: Spain should grant Catalonia its independence.
Policy Debaters - Policy National Debate Topic – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its funding and/or regulation of elementary and/or secondary education in the United States.)
**This tournament is open only to individuals who identify as female. Individuals who identify as female are also welcome and encouraged to volunteer as judges**
