The following is a brief description of each committee within our club.

Rotary Foundation (Board Member)

The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The foundation provides the Club the opportunity to participate in and contribute to programs that make a difference in the lives of people around the globe.

Administration: (Board Member)

The chairman of the Administration Committee shall be responsible for all club administration activities and coordinate the work on particular phases of administration

The club administration is responsible for the following committees:

  • Historian:

This committee will maintain the Club’s historical knowledge electronically and when necessary with Club memorabilia. It shall be stored with the Historian or in a designated storage area agreeable to the executive committee.

  • Community Service:

The goals of this committee represent a continuation of our club’s commitment to improve the lives of people in our community by providing assistance and support to those in need through the development of projects and service activities related to youth and youth activities; literacy for children and adults; safety campaigns for youth and senior adults; assistance to the poor through donations of food and medical care; disaster assistance to members of the club and the world communities.

  • Family of Rotary:

The main purpose of this committee is to take actions and promote activities that include all members of our local Rotary family. These members include active members along with their spouses and children, honorary members along with their spouses and children, spouses and children of deceased members, inactive and former members,Rotaract, Interact and Foundation program alumni, and Youth Exchange students.

The responsibilities of this committee are to:

  • To care for Rotarians and members of Rotary’s extended family.
  • Remembers birthdays and anniversaries.
  • Assist when they are sick, lonely, or having difficulties.
  • Share their grief after death of a family member.
  • Celebrate births, weddings, and graduations.
  • Concerned for the Aged:

This committee will work to enhance the quality of life for the seniors in the Clemson community and members of our club. The Committee will identify senior Rotary Club members who:

  • Might need a ride to normal Club meetings and Club Social Events.
  • Identify members who might need a ride to medical appointments and develop a list of volunteers (work with Rotary Volunteers on the Vocational Service committee) that are available to provide these rides.
  • Consideration should be made for the development of an adopt- a-senior program where a junior Rotary Member will adopt a Senior Rotary member and do occasional visits to their home at various times during the year.
  • Will sponsor and seek Club membership participation in the "Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust (CART) Program", which is endorsed by District 7750. The purpose of the CART fund is to raise money that is specifically designated for Alzheimer's research.
  • Disaster Assistance:

The Committee will seek to keep abreast of any community/area situations/disaster, which may befall a citizen or community member with the objective of determining if financial assistance could help alleviate the problem.

  • The Committee members will verify all information, and then contact the District Disaster Assistance Committee to request funding.
  • The Club membership should be reminded from time to time to make this Committee aware of such situations within our community and/or close surrounding area.
  • This committee will also work with the Family of Rotary Committee.
  • Literacy and Education:

  • OperationSchool Supplies: Dictionaries are distributed to all third graders in the Clemson and CentralElementary Schools and approximately 70 book bags with grade level school supplies to the Clemson Community Care for distribution to needy families in the Clemson area.
  • Community Awards:

The Awards committee is responsible for the implementation of the annual Club programs for the recognition and awards for:

  • Outstanding Community Service
  • The Community Vocation Award
  • The Rotary Club member Vocational Award
  • and recognizing academic excellence in our high schools.

Where appropriate the Committee will work directly with the high schools in the selection process.

The high school awards and scholarships are:

-Roy c. Cooper Scholarship $1000

-BoysState Conference. Two delegates @ $150 each

-GirlsState Conference. Two delegates@ $175 each

-Rotary Youth Leadership Award

2 girls and 2 boys attend at ErskineCollege for 1 week.

  • Partners In Service Committee:

This committee shall devise and carry into effect plans which will guide and assist the members of this club in building relationships with other Rotary sponsored organizations or Service Clubs with the same values within the community and in cooperating with them in service.

  • Environmental Protection:

This committee will involve the club members in community projects that help to maintain the quality and cleanliness of life in the community of Clemson, the county of Pickens, the Mountain Lakes Region and the state of South Carolina.

  • .Programs:

This committee is responsible for providing club members with the information and motivation necessary to increase their participation in the activities that serve the club, the community, and the world.

  • Schedule programs in advance and insure there is a back up program.
  • Relate programs to current club projects, activities or concerns both in the community and around the world.

Membership (Board Member)

The Club’s ability to serve the community, support The Rotary Foundation, and develop leaders capable of servicing beyond the club level is directly related to the strength and size of our club’s membership base. This committee is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an action plan for recruiting, retaining, and educating club members.
  • Assessing the current state of the club’s membership and setting goals which support the long-range goals of the club that include vocational considerations as well as diversity in age, race and sex.
  • Consider all proposals for membership from the personal side and shall thoroughly investigate the character, business, social and community standing, and general eligibility of all persons proposed for membership and shall report their decision on all applications to the board.
  • Membership Development Committee: This committee shall review continually the club roster of filled and unfilled classifications and shall take positive action to initiate and present the board the names of suitable persons to fill unfilled classifications.
  • Promote:

-Continuing member education

  • Human Development:

This committee shall devise and carry into effect plans, which will guide and assist the members of this club in dealing within the community with the welfare of human beings of all kinds throughout the whole span of life by providing assistance and support of those in need.

Fund Raising: (Board Member)

With the approval of the board, this committee shall develop and carry out various fund raising events that will achieve the monetary goals desired by the members for redistribution for projects, services and activities within the larger community of Clemson, and for approved RI programs.

International Outreach: (Board Member)

This committee shall devise and carry into effect plans, which will guide and assist the members of this club in building relationships with other Rotary sponsored organizations within the community and in cooperating with them in service.

Public Relations.(Board Member)

Public Relations informs communities around the world that Rotary is a credible organization that meets real needs.

  • One of the most important tasks for this committee is to publish and distribute our weekly Club Bulletin prior to each meeting. Work closely with our Rotary Board and committee chairpersons to ensure that all information is current and correct.
  • Update the Club Directory annually
  • Keep membership information current and in a format that can be easily used for future updates to our Club Directory.
  • It is necessary that this committee cultivates relationships with the media representatives.
  • Seek publicity for successful service projects and other activities that illustrate Rotary’s mission and accomplishments.
  • Use the resources available from RI to create awareness of the club and its’ members to the media and the general public.
  • Help to create a public image conducive to membership development photography of club events and speakers for the media and club archives.
  • Development and maintenance of the Club website and Facebook sites.

Vocational Service: (Board Member)

Encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.

  • This committee shall devise and carry into effect plans, which will guide and assist the members of this club in discharging their responsibilities in their vocational relationships and in improving the general standards of practice in their respective vocations. The chairman of this committee shall be responsible for the vocational service activities of the club and shall supervise and coordinate the work of any committee that may be appointed on particular phases of vocational service.
