April 19, 2017

A.  Meeting called to order at 7:29 pm, Pledge of Allegiance recited.

B.  Presidential Update:

a.  Welcome to all present attendees of meeting.

b.  Secretary not present to review minutes from January meeting.

c.  Ashanti Bethea, Nominating Committee Chair, stated that on April 11th (3rd meeting of Nomination Committee), they confirmed the candidates for 2017-2018 school year. The committee consisted of Ashanti Bethea, plus 3 community members. The slate is posted a District office and all 3 schools.

4.  VP of Buildings: Kaci Howard

5.  VP if Membership: Jen Merrill

6.  VP of Fundraising: Chenise Belue

7.  Secretary: Shelisia Shannon

8.  Treasurer: Jill Losh

9.  Immediate Past President: Ann-Marie Webster

d.  Ann-Marie Webster returned to podium and stated that the Treasurer was absent and a report could not be given.

e.  Presidential Report:

i. Review of 2016/17 school year: PTA has funded many things throughout the school year, including:

ii.  Welcome gifts for new teacher at the September General Meeting. Boo-Hoo Breakfast for new Kindergarten parents, PBIS stores, Bee Healthy, field trips and assemblies, appreciation days for principals/secretaries/etc., volunteers in schools every day tallying many volunteer hours for our schools, our yearly Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast (which will take place on April 28) to honor volunteers, our Installation Dinner for new Executive Board members on May 18th, the Hospitality committee has provided refreshments for meetings and appreciation days, we provide a service to families for ordering school supply kits to help parents with back to school shopping. Our fundraisers, Butter Braids and Kids Stuff, 3 Cook’s Night Outs and Book Fairs went very well this year.

f.  PTA is full of different people with 1 common goal:

i. To help the children. President Webster reminded the new board, that is why they are here…to help the children.

g.  President Webster thanked everyone for all of their help and for our hard work during the year.

h.  VP of Membership Report:

1.  We have 484 members at the moment. Registration has begun and PTA volunteer forms and membership forms are out and available.

C.  Election of 2017/18 Officers

1.  Floor is open for positions. Bylaws state that officers of the board should include President, President Elect, 3 VPs, Treasurer and Secretary. Members must have served on the board for 30 days to be elected. Floor is open for objections, nominations, etc.

D.  Positions Up for Election: (see slate)

·  President:

·  No nominations from the floor for President: Josh Eisenberg is elected as President

·  President Elect: Open Position

·  Nomination from the floor for Crystal Garhammer by Jessica Jursa, 2nd by Meredith Thetford. Crystal Garhammer is elected President Elect.

·  VP of Buildings:

·  No nominations from the floor: Kaci Howard is elected VP of Buildings

·  VP of Membership:

·  No nominations from the floor: Jen Merrill is elected VP of Membership

·  VP of Fundraising:

·  No nominations from the floor: Chenise Belue is elected VP of Fundraising

·  Secretary:

·  Shelisia Shannon nominated; Opposition from the floor; Joena Searcy nominated by Jill Losh, 2nd by Jessica Lopez-Jursa. Joena Searcy elected Secretary.

·  Treasurer: No nominations from the floor: Jill Losh is elected Treasurer.

·  NEW BUSINESS:

·  Immediate Past President, Ashanti Bethea, will check Bylaws to see procedure for opposed position of Secretary. New slate will be posted.

·  Meeting adjourned at 8:04pm.
