Planner: Sign your child’s planner and empty their green take home folder nightly.
Absent: When absent, please send in a written note on a separate piece of paper or an email upon returning to school. Make-up work will be sent home if necessary. Please notify the teacher in advance if your child will be dismissed early.
Math: We are working on describing and classifying shapes using size, color, surface, straight sides, and vertices. We are also working on composing 2D or 3D shapes to create a composite shape. At the end of the month we will begin adding and subtracting within 100. PLEASE review addition and subtraction facts nightly.
ELA:English Language Arts encompasses reading, writing, spelling and grammar. Every week we focus on a reading standard. Spelling words will be tested weekly. Students should be reading 40 words per minute by the end of February.
February ELA skills:
-describe the characters, settings, and major events in a story using key details
-compare and contrast what happens to characters in stories
-write an opinion piece with an introduction, reasons to support the opinion, and provide closure
-tell the difference between information from the pictures and the text
Science: We are learning about the necessities for life.
Homework: Homework is to be completed per teacher directions. Homework is checked for completion, not graded. Read for 20 minutes nightly. / Home Technology Access:
iReady is available to students at home. Go to the SCPS website at Click on ePassport at the top right corner. Your child will type in their username and password.
Grades: Your child will receive an S or an N on report cards. Please review all papers sent home.

Specials: Includes P.E., Art, Music and Media and varies with each teacher each day. Students should always wear sneakers on P.E. days. Please check with your child's teacher for specific P.E. days.
Lunch: Staggered lunches begin at 10:45 and end at 11:18. Please check in at the front office if you would like to eat with your child.
