2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION FOR FULLY INSULATED JANISOL STEEL WINDOWS
2.1 Janisol stainless steel windows / fixed lights
Fully insulated window system made from JANISOL stainless steel profiles (material 1.44.01 / AISI 316) for side-hung, turn-and-tilt, casement, bottom-hung and PASK sashes as well as fixed lights. The inner and outer profile shells must be connected up using continuous insulating bars made from glass fibre reinforced polymer material. Verification of thrust connection per EN 14024 is to be furnished.
Frame or fixed panels construction height 60 mm, window leaf construction height 64 mm, casement on the inside and outside.
The window leafs must be constructed with a central weather strip and an interior rebate seal. Weather bars, invisibly fastened, must be fitted in the lower part of the window leafs with polymer material end-pieces at the sides.
As a stop for the central weather strip an additional polymer material profile must be used all around the outer frame. This profile must be glued in the corners and fixed with self-tapping screws. In the lower part (antechamber) an additional seal must be inserted using a self-adhesive strip. The antechamber is drained by means of special drainage pipes made of stainless steel (10 mm in diameter).
For frames, mullions and transoms sections with 25 mm and 50 mm section width can be used in the fixed panels’ area. For side-hung, bottom-hung, turn-and-tilt and casement leaf as well as for PASK elements, use fittings system-compatible and tested by the manufacturer only.
The elements are welded together using the WIG/TIG method. Weld seams must be expertly dressed and visible welds must be ground down neatly. The insulation rods must be capable of withstanding short-term increased temperatures from welding without melting or burning.
The system manufacturer’s instructions and the general processing guidelines published by the Informationsstelle Edelstahl Rostfrei (Stainless Steel Information Service), D-40013 Düsseldorf must be observed.
The glazing beads made of stainless steel are to be fixed invisibly using studs made of stainless steel.
The required thermal insulation values (Uf) of the profiles and profile combinations used per EN 10077-2 are to be documented with corresponding test certificates / calculations.
Frames / window sashes Uf = ...... W/m2K
Mullion-transom / window sashes: Uf = ...... W/m2K
Frames / fixed panels: Uf = ...... W/m2K
Mullion-transom fixed panels: Uf = ...... W/m2K
The profiles must satisfy the expected static loads. The sheer stresses between the inner and outer shells must be transmitted reliably by the joint (EN 14024).
Profile widths:
Frames (fixed lights) 47.5 mm / 72.5 mm / 95 mm / .... mm
Leaf frame (windows) 35 mm
Window overlap (section combination) 103 mm
Mullion (fixed light) 70 mm / 95 mm
Transom (fixed light) 70 mm / 95 mm
Glazing bead 12 mm / 15 mm / 20 mm / 25 mm / 30 mm / 35 mm
The profile dimensions stated above have been determined on the basis of a preliminary structural design study and/or aesthetic considerations. The company has to check these requirements regarding statics before submitting a tender and to submit a report if there are any deviations.
Supplemental details and information on construction assembly, fabrication and installation are to be taken from the documentation of the system manufacturer.

4 INSTALLING INFILL PANELS
4.1 Glazing with plastic sealing compound (sealing)
Glazing and panel installation is carried out using interior and exterior sealing.
The 42.03 / 42.04 EMPA and SZFF standards and the manufacturer’s guidelines apply for joint formation, dimensioning and padding.
High quality, permanently elastic sealing compounds are to be used for the seals, which can absorb the anticipated movements permanently. The specific guidelines of the glass manufacturer are to be followed for special glazing.
On award of contract, the company is obliged to co-ordinate the type of insulation elements and mode of glass installation with the double glazing manufacturer and glazing company.
Where required, system-specific concealed glazing rebate ventilation is to be included in the rigid areas. The quantity and arrangement is to be clarified with the glazing supplier or system manufacturer.
The glazing, the glass and panel installation, as well as all the fittings required for them such as spacer bars, glazing bridges, etc. are to be included in the flat rate tender.
4.2 Dry glazing (EPDM sealing profiles)
Glazing and panel installation is carried out using EPDM glazing seals on both sides.
On the exterior, a self-adhesive glazing seal is to be fitted on the profile stop side.
The edges are to be mitre-cut and glued.
The ventilation and drainage of the glazing bead are to be concealed. The ventilation pipes and angles required for this are to be selected and fitted according to the profile widths.
The inner seals (glazing bead side) are to be selected according to the joint width between infill element and glazing bead and pressed in evenly. The corners of the seals are to be mitre-cut and pressed in cleanly.
Additional information concerning the fabrication and fitting can be found in the processing and fitting guidelines of the system manufacturer.
The guidelines of the glass manufacturer or glass supplier apply for padding. The specific guidelines of the glass manufacturer are to be followed for special glazing. On award of contract, the company is obliged to co-ordinate the type of insulation elements and mode of glass installation with the double glazing manufacturer and glazing company.
The glazing, the glass and panel installation, as well as all the fittings required for them such as seals, glazing bridges, etc. are to be included in the flat rate tender.
