2016 SHANLEY DEACONS 7 ON 7 PASSING LEAGUE RULES

  1. Each team will consist of the following:

-5 eligible receivers (who are allowed to go out for a pass)

-A center (or someone who puts the ball in play. He is not eligible to go out for a pass)

-A QB – QB can roll out but cannot run with the ball. He has 4 seconds to get off a pass.

  1. Motion is allowed by either a player lined up in the backfield or as a wide receiver.
  1. Teams will be awarded a first down when they reach or cross the 25 and 10 yard lines. (play will start at the 40 yard line)
  1. No diving on offense or defense. If a player dives on offense, he will be considered down at the point in which he started his dive and the offensive team will be penalized ten yards from the spot of the dive. If a player on defense dives to tag an offensive player and is successful, the defense will be penalized ten yards from the point of the touch. An offensive played is considered down when he is touched (with one or two hands) by a defensive player.
  1. Other penalties that will be enforced are: (1) Offsides (5 yds.) – lined up beyond the LOS or leaving before the snap. (2) Personal foul (10 yds.) – excessive force used in touching an offensive player by the defense (ex. – pushing a player down on purpose).

(3) Blocking by an offensive player (5 yds.) - (cannot block for a player who is carrying the ball and the penalty will be enforced from the point of the block).

  1. Scoring – TD – 6 points. The offense will have a choice to go for a 1 or 2 point conversion. The 1 point conversion will be from the 5 yd. line and the 2 point conversion will be from the 10 yd. line. The defense can score by running an interception or fumble back for a TD.
  1. Running clock – 20 minutes per half. No stoppage of the clock in the first half (only a timeout can stop the clock in the first half). 2nd half – no stoppage of the clock until the final 2 minutes (then clock will stop for incompletions, out of bounds, and 1st downs).
  1. Timeouts – each team will have 2 per half (they cannot be carried over – use or lose).
