2010 Committee Structure:

Program Committee

Includes planning the:

Annual Meeting /Volunteer Training (Nov)

Solicit bids, plan, organize and promote the 2010 and 2011 annual meeting with a goal of 60 participants. Solicit bids for Year 2012 Conference. Focus of the conference designed to look at critical issues facing chamber management. Plan and develop a program (VLS) in conjunction with the Annual Meeting that would result in volunteer leaders of local chambers having a better understanding of their roles. Targeted to officers, executives and directors of local chambers in Oklahoma this event will have an attendance goal of 60 people/chambers.

Mid Year Conference (June)

Plan and conduct the 2010 Spring Conference, which should focus on basic management issues such as membership retention and attraction, non-dues income/volunteer management. Attendance goal for the Conference will be 50 attendees.

·  Regional Task Force: Matt Pivarnik, Chair: Orchestrate, plan, implement the 2011 Regional Spring Conference with Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Awards and Scholarships

JC Kinder, Chair and Charity O’Donnell, Vice-Chair
Select the Executive of the Year, the Executive Leadership Award recipients and Hall of Fame winners and present at the Annual Meeting.


Identify and select individuals to receive scholarships for OCCE programs; the Institute for Organization Management, ACCE and The Center for Chamber of Commerce Excellence.

Nominating Committee/Bylaws

Mita Bates, Chair
Responsible for recommending candidates to serve as officers and members of the board of directors for the year 2010+.

Annually review and make approved changes to the OCCE Bylaws

Chamber Management Assistance

Program (C-MAP)

Jack Wesenberg, CCE, Chair
Through MAP, OCCE provides the following services:

· Counseling services for local chambers of commerce.

· Executive handbook designed for the new executive.

· Survey of local chambers of commerce.

· Mentoring: Manage a statewide network designed to assist each new chamber executive and welcome all new members of OCCE.

· Publish annual Wage and Benefit Survey

Certified Chamber Manager Program

Jack Wesenberg, CCE, Chair
Recognize at least two chamber executives who meet the criteria for the Certificate of Chamber Management (CCM) and present at the Annual Meeting.


Chamber Management Institute (CMI)
(Spring and/or Fall)

Rich Cantillon, Chair; Lisa Friden, Co-Chair

Plan and coordinate with OCCE staff, program content and speakers. Held one day a month for four consecutive months, this program, depending on the need, trains new professionals in the industry. Graduates from this course are recognized at either the Summer Management Conference and/or Annual Conference, depending on what session attended.

Membership Recruitment Programs and Retention Committee

Sue Harris (Chair-Elect of the Board) Co-Chair: Jeff Warmuth
Recruit new local chamber involvement throughout Oklahoma, while retaining the existing membership base. Utilize OCCE programs and members to promote benefits and member services of the organization. 2008 Goal: maintain 110 members.

-  Website/Communications Task Force: Chair: Ruth Littlefield, Tulsa Metro Chamber

Responsible for working on new 2008 website based on strategic board retreat objectives to include a membership communications element.

Center for Chamber of Commerce

Excellence (March of each year)

OCCE President appointment and OCCE Executive VP

The Center for Chamber of Commerce Excellence has been established to provide the skills needed to enhance the value of a chamber in a local business community. This program is designed to address much of the basic information one would need to successfully operate a local chamber of commerce.

Audit Committee

Mita Bates, IOM; (2009 OCCE President)

This committee will act at the direction of the President and will work with the State Chamber’s Controller to review and audit the financial records of OCCE on an annual basis.

MAKO 2011 Conference Task Force:

Karen Wages, Danna Fowble, Matt Pivarnik, Mita Bates

This committee will act at the direction of the President and will work to coordinate a Spring 2011 Regional Conference with Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas representatives.
