Consular and Passport Assistant

The Australian Embassy Moscow is looking for a well organised, pro-active individual to fill the position of Consular and Passport Assistant within the Embassy.

The Embassy is offering a very competitive employment package with a monthly salary ranging from RUB60,000 to RUB80,000.

CONSULAR/PASSPORT ASSISTANT

DUTY STATEMENT

·  Provision of the full range of consular and passports services, including undertaking counter interviews, responding to telephone and email enquiries, and performing notarial services;

·  Assist with management of consular cases and consular crisis, including undertaking prison / welfare visits and associated reporting in accordance with Australian Government policies;

·  Create and maintain consular and administrative files;

·  Maintain register an on-line register of Australian citizen living and travelling in each country of accreditation.

·  Maintain consular related correspondence with the local authorities, including liaison with government agencies on behalf of Australian citizens;

·  Assist in research for the Embassy’s crisis action plans and travel advices;

·  Maintain contact lists for out of hours use by the consular emergency centre in Canberra;

·  Perform mail opening duties;

·  Other duties as required;

SELECTION CRITERIA

(applications must address the selection criteria)

1.  A strong commitment to client service and the capability to provide effective consular and passport services, advise and assist clients in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.

2.  Sound ability to understand, interpret and implement specified guidelines and procedures, as set out in manuals and handbooks.

3.  High level interpersonal skills and experience in liaising with relevant Government and non-Government agencies.

4.  Fluent Russian and excellent command of written and spoken English and an ability to translate and interpret in these languages.

5.  Ability to work as a team member, to organise work, determine priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

6.  High level computer literacy, including experience in using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel. Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to undertake other duties as directed.
