Applying for an Age - Related Registration Number.

The following should sent to DVLA:

·  The enclosed dating certificate

·  A completed Form V112, Declaration of exemption from MoT. Your vehicle category for this form is O.

·  A current Certificate of Insurance

·  Form V55/5 with the following sections completed:

§  2. Insert “Historic Vehicle “

§  6. Insert “Ariel “

§  7. Insert the model (eg” KH” or “Arrow” )

§  8. Insert “Motorcycle”

§  10. Insert the colour (eg “Maroon” or “Red/Black”)

§  27. Insert the year of manufacture

§  30. Insert “Petrol”

§  31 & 32. Ensure that you insert the Frame and Engine numbers actually on your machine rather than those on any paperwork you have.

§  33. Insert the cubic capacity (eg “997cc”

§  48. (Overleaf) Insert your name and address details

§  49. Insert your date of birth

§  50. Insert “Exempt by age”

§  Sign and date the Declaration at the bottom of the page.

·  The current fee for registering a vehicle which is £55.

·  A current photo of the bike, plus photos of engine and frame numbers

·  A photocopy proof of personal identification. This is typically a DVLA Photocard driving licence and paper counterpart plus a gas, electricity or landline phone bill issued in the last 3 months.

Insurance certificates can be obtained using the frame number although the insurance may be valid only for a few weeks on this basis.

The V55/5 form is a self carbonating form and so is only available from DVLA in Swansea. You may find that the easiest option is to ask for the historic vehicle form pack which contains a number of forms but does include the V55/5. The V112 form can be obtained from www.dvla.gov.uk by typing V112 into the search function and following the instructions to download the form or you should also be able to get it from DVLA.
