Job Purpose: Responsible for raising funds, managing IVS’s social media and IVS events.

Job Summary:To successfully raise funds for IVS, enabling the organisation to maintain and extend its operations into new and exciting areas. To manage an effective and engaging social media presence which will appeal to IVS members, project hosts, and a wide range of prospective volunteers of all ages. To manage IVS events across the UK, including monitoring and following up outcomes from each one.

We are a leading charity which has existed since 1931 involving volunteers in international exchanges at home and abroad. IVS GB is the British branch of Service Civil International (SCI), a worldwide network of branches and partner organisations supporting the mutual exchange of volunteers to work on projects of direct benefit to local communities.

Key Tasks:

Fund raising Management

  • To successfully fund-raise for IVS using a range of fund-raising tools such as charitable trusts, corporate giving, events, philanthropy. It is expected that the post holder will raise in the region of £50 – £100,000 in the life-time of this post, with a clear plan of how future funds can be raised.

Event Management

  • Coordinate the research, recruitment and visits to all university fairs, colleges, VI form, school fairs and events, including setting out planned outcomes and manage and prepare volunteers or staff for these visits (as outlined above).
  • Ensure sufficient supply of appropriate material is available for each. This may include the review and development of IVS marketing material and low cost free merchandise.
  • Monitor the outcome of each visit and ensure follow up takes place with interested volunteers by liaising with office personnel who have this responsibility (usually an office volunteer)
  • Coordinate the distribution of all publicity material UK wide and provide administration for all publicity events.

Digital marketing management

  • Be responsible for the maintenance, review and development of the IVS website and designing and inputting daily updates to maintain the IVS website and all IVS digital media (currently Facebook, twitter, Instagram.)
  • Engage with existing and potential new IVS members through all social media outlets
  • Review Google and Facebook analytics, research optimisation performance on both sites and report on performance and return on investment to the IVS DD and Board
  • Ensure payment of google AdWords is up to date and performance is regularly analysed and adapted for continued optimisation
  • Research and suggest possible goods IVS can sell and be responsible for marketing the sale of these goods as well as managing the sales and monitor the return of these sales

IVS Membership Management

  • Be responsible for producing a high quality newsletter annually and distribute across all members and networks by post, with an additional version being available on the IVS website.
  • To produce a monthly one sheet e-letter for distribution on members e-lists
  • Be responsible for the development of membership materials, project host materials and volunteer packs.
