Job Description
Job Purpose: Aurion Learning is a Belfast-based, multiple award winning company delivering innovative online applications for learning and development throughout the UK and Ireland. The shift in emphasis from bespoke development to one of Product Development means that Aurion now seeks a Software Development Manager to join the Management Team and lead in the strategic development of new products in the Company. The post-holder will take responsibility for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle for both “generic” products and bespoke products. This will include gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with sales, marketing and clients (including early adopter members) to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The successful Software Development Manager will also be responsible, in conjunction with Sales and Marketing, for ensuring that the products support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
Duties:
·  Take ownership of the product portfolio including product road map, life cycle management, positioning, competitive intelligence and new product delivery.
·  Assume direct line management of the software development team, including responsibility for coaching and developing team members in the move from bespoke development to product development.
·  Work with the management team and external third parties to assess partnerships, acquisition, channel and licensing opportunities, including the establishment of product pricing models.
·  Establish project models and standards for all aspects of product development, including packaging, product technical information and working with marketing on launch strategies. Run beta, early adopter or pilot programs with early-stage products and samples.
·  Work with sales teams (Aurion and channel, as appropriate) in support of sales cycles, implementation and post-implementation reviews.
·  Develop clear and effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and partners.
Software Team Responsibilities
·  Scoping, costing, scheduling and managing multiple complex projects through full project lifecycle.

Essentials
·  3rd Level Qualification (Business, Engineering, Science or IT)
·  Minimum 3 years in an R & D/ Product Development role in the software industry
·  Minimum 3 years customer and client service experience and expertise
·  Demonstrable leadership and management skills.
·  Proven strong negotiation and Influencing skills.
·  Proven self-management and organisational skills.
·  Excellent communication and presentation skills.
·  Willing to travel
