DearMr Paulley

Re: FOI/0048/1011

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request receivedby Public Liaison on28 June 2010.

Please find below the details you requested. I hope this information provided to you is helpful.

  1. We have no known instances of attempts made by care providers to evict residents in care homes without their involvement in the decision or against their wishes. In the last 3 years there has been a total of 10 instances of clients who have had to be transferred from one residential or nursing home to another. We would not consider that these clients have been evicted but rather have had their care needs re-assessed, as their current accommodation could not provide the adequate level of care that was required. In all cases, clients and their families were involved in discussions and the decision to relocate to another facility.
  1. We have no known instances of our council being aware of where either a regulator or the safeguarding procedures have substantiated allegations of institutional abuse of a Leonard Cheshire social care service user over the past 3 years.

If you are dissatisfied with the way in which your Freedom of Information request has been handled and you wish to make a complaint, please contact Dympna Curley, Head of Communications, Roe Centre, Knockbracken Health Care Park, Saintfield Road, Belfast BT8 8BH or alternatively by e-mail

Should you still be dissatisfied with the outcome, you can proceed to the second review stage by contactingthe Commissioner for NI, Commissioner's Office, 51 Adelaide Street, BelfastBT2 8FE.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards
