Manifesto

Last year i was part of the football committee and held the position of men’s chair. As a result of this i believe i have gained all the skills required to be able to complete the job of chair of football next year. In my previous role of men’s chair i was forced into decisions that will hold me in good stead as chairman of the whole football club and have experienced all of the pressures, stresses and organisational skills that are required for this role.

If i was to be voted into the role next year i would provide a fair and equal football club for all players both intramural and in the BUCS leagues. I will offer all players a fair chance to be put into the correct level of football and an opportunity to establish themselves as a BUCS or weekend football player at the University of Bath.

I would also like to focus on creating a more professional environment for the football club at bath by bringing in established, experienced coaches for the 4 BUCS teams which will enable a more professional, motivated football environment. As a previous team bath player i believe i have a very good connection with the 1st team squad and want to endeavor to bring the club together as a whole, so that players can achieve the highest level of university football in their time here.

As a BUCS football player I have noticed that training allocations in previous years have been very poor and i will strive to increase the number of training sessions and hours in which these can be completed. Last year we struggled with this situation and had many meetings with the VP sport about it and these conversations shall be even more influential if I get voted in for chair of the club.

Lastly I will promote the system that, if you are achieving and maintaining a high level of performance, you will have the chance to be either moved up one or two teams to see if you can be competent at these higher levels. Last year this system was not correctly imputed into the club and players were in teams that they should possibly not have been, so next year this will be a main concern for the club and with the possible introduction of coaches for every team this will an ever present theme.

I believe that the football club should be run fairly and with equality. In the past the club has been run by students as managers and players and therefore held a lot of peer persuasive power. If i get voted in for chair of football I will cut down these barriers and create a new structure for the club in the future.
