Book Title______

Author______

You will be creating your own book Jackdaw. You must choose 5 artifacts and can store them and your written items in a shoebox, brown paper bag, or other special container. Your container should be decorated in way that is meaningful to your book. Your name, the book title, and author must be displayed on front of your container/bag. You will use both class time and homework time for this project. Be prepared to share your items with the class.

You are required to choose 1 written item from the list below and at least 5 artifacts to share.

Written Items

All written items must have correct capitalization, punctuation, and details written in complete sentences. Make sure to include details in your writing items because you are trying to let your readers know specific information from the book. These items must be original and not copied from the book.

·  A map of an important place/setting in the book (would not need to be in paragraph form)

·  A diary entry or journal from one character’s point of view about an event in the book

·  A letter from or to a character in the book.

·  Create a speech made by someone in your book.

·  Draw and label a scene from your book and write a short paragraph (4-6 sentences) describing the scene.

Artifacts

You must have at least 5 artifacts in your jackdaw container. The artifacts must be something from the book such as a tool, a toy, a household item, an item used by a character in the book, an animal that played an important role in the book (fake of course!), something from nature, or something created by you out of different materials. On an index card, write a short explanation about each artifact and why you chose it.
