Softball Tournament

Rules – 10U

  • No limit to number of players on team roster; awards will be limited to 15
  • All players can only be included on oneroster for the tournament.
  • Maximum of 10 players on the field. Four players must remain on outfield grass. All players present on the roster will bat in lineup. All players must play at least one inning in the field.
  • Unlimited defensive substitution.
  • Pitchers are limited to four innings per game (one pitch in an inning is counted as one inning). 5 warm-up pitches will be allowed between innings max, 7pitches will be allowed for a new pitcher max. Intentionally stalling, as deemed by an official or tournament director, may result in forfeiture of the game. For extra innings, pitching restrictions will be removed.
  • Each game will have 6 innings with a 15 run rule after 3 innings, 10 run rule after 4 innings, and 8 after 5.
  • 8 runs max per inning with unlimited runs in the last inning.
  • No new inning to start after 1 hour and 10 minutes of play. Championship game will not have a time limit, in case of inclement weather, games may be shortened. (Starting time must be agreed upon by each coach and confirmed by the umpire prior to play). International tie breaker will be used in case of tie.
  • Runners may steal any base. Runners may leave base only after the ball has left the pitchers hand. Players leaving early will be called out.
  • Walks will be given-after four balls. However, if the bases are loaded the batter will hit usingcoach pitch (i.e., a run cannot be “walked” in, and no bunting on coach pitch).
  • Dropped 3rd Strike is not in effect (i.e., batter cannot take first base on dropped 3rd strike).
  • Bunting is allowed; however, there will be no fake bunt and swing.
  • Profanity or harassment by a team member, coach or fans toward an opposing team, umpire or official of the tournament will NOT be tolerated. This type of activity can lead to ejection of said team member, coach or fan, without warning, by a tournament official or umpire.
  • It is the umpire’s judgment as to whether or not a play is being made, and if sliding is necessary. The umpire’s decision is final.
  • Home team is decided by a coin flip. Home team is official scorebook. Home team for bracket play is determined by higher seed.
  • A courtesy runner is allowed for the pitcher and catcher. The runner will be the person who made the last out.
  • Infield fly rule isnot in effect.
  • Any rules not covered here will be covered by ASA rules.
  • Coaches are responsible for cleaning up their dugout after the game.
  • Final team roster must be turned into director 1/2 hour before 1st game. No changes will be made to roster after that time. Proof of age needs to be available should a question arise. ELIGIBLITY IS SET BY ASA AGE GOVERNING RULES Games will be forfeited in which an in-eligible player has been used.
  • The tournament director reserves the right to change any of the rules previously listed.
