PTK-BAZ Meeting – Wednesday, May 26

Voter Registration Drive – info provided by Don Wildman, former English professor at Wake Tech

  • Background info: Voters must register before October 14. Anyone can register voters. There are guidelines to follow to ensure registration is done is a legal manner; it is a criminal act to neglect to turn in registrations, etc. We’ll have two workshops, one on Main and one on North, which will last approximately 1 hour to review registration guidelines. Anyone interested in helping with voter registration should attend. Dates TDB – most likely during Open House and Welcome Back Festival. We’ll advertise the events so that other members of the community can also register. We’ll also contact SGA to see if they want to collaborate with us on the drive, as they have in the past.

PTK representative at SGA meetings – Each organization needs to have a representative in attendance at each SGA meeting, held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Anyone interested should contact Brie. In the vent that there aren’t other interested individuals, Jacki will go, provided her schedule permits.

Honors in Action

  • The topic will be Natural and Engineered, there was no opposition.
  • Begin researching potential topics within this arena, it needs to have a global perspective and a local component. Anyone interested in participating more should contact Charles. At the next meeting, we’ll finalize a topic. Make sure to document and keep and journal of all research performed, including saving web links.

Fundraising

  • T-shirts - Preferred design is the simple PTK BAZ small logo with the Wake Tech eagle on the back. Mr. Hill get design approval. The shirts will be sold for $20 each. Jacki is continuing to investigate the best vendor.
  • Golf Tournament – Potential date, depending on Chichora Golf Course’s schedule, is October 8. Jacki will provide contract, contact, and vendor info to Mr. Hill for approval.
  • For participants, the green fee per player will be $100-$150, of this $20 goes to the golf course.
  • Sponsors/donations are needed.
  • For a donation of $100 (or donated item of equivalent value), the donor receives an advertising sign at one hole. Ideally, we want 4-5 sponsors per hold. Our cost for each sign will be $15-$25.
  • For a donation of $500+, the sponsor will be included on the sponsor sign.
  • For donations of $2000+, the donor is considered a co-host of the event with PTK.
  • Desired items include putters, driver, wedges, high end golf equipment, but there’s no limit on what can be donated.
  • The Media Blender has committed to donate.
  • Following the tournament, an awards dinner will be held. Awards for 1st-3rd place will be given as well as longest drive, etc. Ideally, the dinner will be catered as a donation.
  • Needed: Wake Tech Tax ID, donor form template
  • Update needed about opportunity with Revolution Sports
  • General fundraising goals are to fund participation in regional and national events, start a community scholarship and create a PTK-BAZ fund to help offset initiation and participation fees for those who need assistance.

Promotional Video

  • Interviews will be conducted over the summer. Mr. Hill needs to provide the dates.
