Support for Comprehensive Approach to Combating Underage Drinking Program
This program funds activities that support local agencies in their efforts to implement a comprehensive approach to combating underage drinking.
Governor’s Partnership to Protect Connecticut’s Workforce, Combating Underage Drinking$230,000 / Support the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking with particular emphasis on the provision of training and technical assistance to local communities.
Connecticut MADD
Combating Underage Drinking, $50,000 / Support a youth coordinator position and MADD’s Power Camp for teens including planning, staffing and follow-up.
Department of Consumer Protection, Combating Underage Drinking, $40,000 / Support the Liquor Control Division with funds for overtime and equipment to increase the number of enforcement operations, special investigations and inspections at licensed retail outlets designed to reduce underage sale and consumption of alcohol by minors.
Comprehensive Approach to Combating Underage Drinking
This program provides funding to establish or enhance comprehensive community projects that deal with underage drinking. All projects have a coordinator who is responsible for staffing a broad-based task force that has completed a needs assessment and strategic plan, and will implement that plan to include increased enforcement and the development of youth leadership and involvement in task force work.

Comprehensive Approach to Combating Underage Drinking—Community Trials Initiative
This program provides funding to establish or enhance comprehensive community projects that deal with underage drinking. It is a federal program that the State won nationally along with 4 other states. This initiative involves a 2 ½ year time period and a research focus called community trials. Fourteen communities of 25,000 or more in population joined with the OPM in applying for funding. These communities are: Branford, Bridgeport, East Hartford, East Haven, Hamden, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Shelton, Southington, Torrington, Trumbull, and Westport. The research design involves funding seven communities as intervention sites and seven as a comparison group.
