New Delhi, Dec. 2: Thirteen overseas ministers, 273 exhibitors and about 4,000 speakers and delegates will converge in New Delhi for PETROTECH-2009, Asia's biggest biennial Oil & Gas Industry event, being organised by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas during 11th–15th January 2009.
The PETROTECH series of International Oil & Gas Conferences and Exhibitions has been showcasing the Indian hydrocarbon industry to the world since 1995 and has steadily grown in stature to become a must-attend for those in the hydrocarbon industry the world over. Besides ministerial delegations and premier oil & gas companies from abroad, this coveted international event has been attracting delegates from across the world, including eminent scientists, academicians, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, industry professionals, technocrats, Government officials, etc.
Now in its 8th edition, PETROTECH has transformed into a prestigious biennial platform for the global hydrocarbon industry to deliberate and exchange ideas on petroleum economics, security, sustainability and environmental concerns, emerging technologies processes and chart new directions for the industry.
Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, will inaugurate the four-day Conference at Vigyan Bhavan on Dec. 12th. Mr. Murli Deora, Minister of Petroleum Natural Gas, India, and Patron-in-Chief, PETROTECH-2009 will inaugurate the Exhibition at Pragati Maidan on 11th January, followed by inauguration of Photo Contest/Exhibition by Mr. Dinsha J Patel, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas. The Media Centre at Vigyan Bhavan shall be inaugurated by Mr. RS Pandey, Secretary (Petroleum) and Conference Chairman, PETROTECH-2009.
Among the overseas dignitaries attending the event are Energy and Petroleum ministers of Afghanistan, Alberta(Canada), Indonesia, Iran, Libya, Mauritius, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. (Details given in Annexure).
Conference
The theme of the Conference is ‘Energy Independence with Global Cooperation: Challenges & Solutions’. It would comprise various programmes such as Theme Sessions, Plenary Sessions, Special Interactive Group Meetings, Special Addresses, Ministerial-level Meetings, Special Ministerial Session and Technical Sessions, which would be attended by a galaxy of dignitaries and experts from across the globe.
There shall be four Theme Sessions – one on each day of the Conference addressed by Union Ministers – Mr. Murli Deora, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Vilas Muttemwar, Hon’ble Minister of State (i/c), New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Praful Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State (i/c) for Civil Aviation, and Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Industry.
Among the speakers in the seven Plenary Sessions are top executives from Asian Development Bank, Axens, British Gas, BP, Cairn Energy, CB&I, Concorde Investments, Deloitte & Touche, Haldore Topsoe, Reliance, Shell, UOP, Vitol, etc. (Details given in Annexure).
There shall be three Special Address sessions by Dr. RK Pachauri, Director General, The Energy & Resources Institute, India; Ambassador Richard Jones, Deputy Executive Director, International Energy Agency, Paris; and Mr. Noe van Hulst, Secretary General, International Energy Forum, Riyadh. Dr. Anil Kakaodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, India, will deliver the Valedictory Address.
Technical sessions, with over 100 oral presentations and over 400 poster presentations, will cover the entire value chain of the oil & gas sector and allied businesses, including energy security, petroleum economics, emerging trends, technologies, products & processes, sustainability and environmental concerns.
Exhibition
As the only one of its kind event showcasing the global and Indian oil & gas industry in India, the PETROTECH-2009 Exhibition offers a global platform for display of state-of-the-art technologies, processes and services not only from leading petroleum sector enterprises, vendors and suppliers but also from associate industries, equipment manufacturers and service providers.
Being held at the sprawling Pragati Maidan in New Delhi during 11-15 January 2009 in about 7,500 sq. m. area, the Exhibition has received tremendous response in terms of participation by 132 overseas companies and 141 Indian companies. (List of major exhibitors given in Annexure)
